I have an aunt like that too... and yes, it's the look in her eyes and the tone her voice takes when they step up to that imaginary pulpet to preach what they "know" to be true

To comment on the article the OP linked, I personally think anyone who advocates for torture as a matter of typical government business should be subjected to a few of them prior to being permitted to authorize them.

Specifically on Michelle Bachman, she comes off as more deliberately ignorant than Sarah Palin. She also comes across as some version of crazy-religious that is out of touch with reality. I've got nothing against religion or religious people, but she seems to be something else entirely.

Still, all of the candidates are good for a laugh right now. If only the joke weren't on us.

To some degree, this may be true. I'm not sure it's as black and white as that, but I do think some Republican candidates who would be much better choices opted to sit this one out for a variety of good reasons. Things are going to be tough for a while, and Obama isn't likely to lose to any of them. The smart gang is keeping their powder dry through this round.

Why put your best people out there when you don't really know how to fix it? The country has been in a financial downward spiral and whoever is in office at the time will be blamed. If you knew you were going to do bad, do you even try and risk your reputation?

Nobody is going to bring up her husband's odd obsession with gay men?

Why? She is doing a fine job of crushing his spirit.
