were any of you at roebling the weekend of dec. 12-14th? if you were, you saw mike akard clinch his 2nd national championship in bmw cca d-mod class. i am joe harrison, his crew chief. we won title by one point. we qualified on pole for saturdays enduro. we lost clutch on lap 11. we thrashed on car til late that nite. we captured pole for sundays feature event, and set new track record in the process. mike led every lap and won race by 19.15 seconds over 2nd place car. he is, by far, the most overlooked racer in bmw club series. i am proud to be associated with him. check out his in car cam video of sundays race at www.actionracing.org. scroll to bottom of page, click on savannah race video. it is absolutely awesome!!!

Before this gets totally out of control, I do have to admit that walterj's comment made me laugh--especially when you consider that he doesn't capitalize his own name.

    I wuv you guys.

Joe, congrats on the win. I would like to know a little more about the car setup and so forth, the website you linked didn't offer much info.

However I agree with walterj - your posts are hard to read. No this isn't school, but why make the reader struggle to understand you?

    Welcome to the board.

nah, it's just got one crack in it.

joe, don't worry about capitalization. as long as your punctuation is good, we'll be able to understand you just fine. if lack of capitalization makes people struggle to understand you, then they suck.

pc (not capitalizing on the grm board for about 7 years now)

thanx guys for your acceptance of my illiterate posts. we do not disclose details of car setup. how else could we spank the faster c mod cars by 20 seconds, in a 30 minute race? our suspension setup is part fantastic engineering, part #00 yokahama tires running a very low nitrogen pressure, and the rest is just incredible driving by mike akard. who, by the way, is 6 ft 8 inches tall, and easily weighs over 350 pounds. our competitors would love to know what our suspension and geometry consists of. we just had an outrageous offer to purchase our engine. not 4 sale! that engine is his baby.

some weekends its better than sex. thats one reason I race. I would rather hear a built 2.8 litre bitch scream, than stay home and listen to a 5ft 2" blonde bitch holler. thats not profanity is it? sorry if it is.

Jezus Angry... I was just askin' if the keyboard was broken. No need to go making all sorts of assumptions about my sexual preferences.

Sorry Joe but your first post looked a little like a canoe and I didn't read much past the link to what looked like a biz site. I tend to be a little tipsy come the wee hours :)

I've seen Mike's name on the timesheet a few times but haven't met him... Summit IIRC, and I 'll be down there a few more times this season (economy issues not withstanding). I suppose I ought to mosey over and introduce myself...

its not a biz site. all that is on there is car cam videos from various races, as far back as 2005. check out very bottom video. the savannah one. watch the green drop, and if you have time, watch lap 3. it was new overall and class track record. guess whos record we broke? OUR OWN! thats me driving bmw x-6 .my favorite toy, performing pace car driver duties for all feature races.. 400 hp, twin turbo with goody package. there are no commercial interruptions on these videos.. but if anyone out there wants to run a commercial ad, lets talk.

We were fortunate enough to have a great 2008 season with BMW CCA Club Racing. Didn't finish too poorly in the Walter Mitty either! Joe did a great job helping-out at the track at Daytona & Roebling, but I also owe tons of THANKS to others that enabled me to focus on driving rather than worrying about the competitiveness/reliability of the race car:

Specialty Automotive / Bobby Bitterman has done a fabulous job upgrading my e30 BMW 318 to hold its own against all of the newer chassis out there. It isn't often that a 20+ year old chassis can run with the best of the new stuff, but he's kept her hooked-up off-the-trailer all year long.

Kinetic/Sunbelt Performance Engines... Jim, Chris, Chris, Nick, and all the rest of the crew have put some big ponies under the hood from such a small, normally aspirated engine (only a 2.8L). Several competitors, including a few Mustangs, Camaros, Vipers, and Corvettes learned a thing or two about power-to-weight in those BMW CCA, HSR, PBOC, & SCCA fields thanks to the amazing performance those guys provided!

Balanced Performance.... Jason & Ed have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us work miracles throughout the season to make events with superior tuning of this "disadvantaged model" powerplant.

Track Support.... Joe, Kenny, & Nick (Harrison Contractors/family crew), John & Dave (ACT crew), Charlie, Red, Wendy, and Jennifer (family crew), and the UTMOST THANKS to THE BOSS, Donna Akard for not only making it possible, but providing sincere support of such an expensive habit throughout the years...even to the extent of the "Barney & The Black Ghost" incident on her birthday! Couldn't DREAM of better support!

Vendors.... ABL Original Parts/Alex Lipowich, Turner Motorsports, Bimmerworld, DiffsOnline, Evosport, UUC, KVR Performance, Discovery Motorsports, Renegade Custom Motorcoaches, Bob Woodman Tire, Hoosier Tire, Competition Racing, and all of the guys at ACT have all worked with us to enable #03 DM example of The Ultimate Driving Machine to be among the cars to beat at each and every event all season long. DM Track Records at Barber, Roebling, Daytona, Mid-Ohio, Texas World Speedway, Gingerman, and Road Atlanta speak volumes about the awesome racing goodies these folks have to offer.

....and yes, that sexy engine (with approximately only 5 total hours run time since complete rebuild) can be bought if someone gets their dollars right...despite Joe's wishes that she remain in the family!
