Two-stroke Detroit!! Please! Please!
PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!!!
Word on the street is that Bluebird made a bunch of flat front school busses (the cool ones) with the two stroke Detroit that were universally hated by the districts that bought them. I'm not sure if that information is true or what I would do with it if it were.
Saskatoon still has a few GMC city buses with Detroits...As a taxpayer, I think I approve.
You should approve. They are as reliable as gravity. We still roll a handful out at Christmas time that date back to the 40s. Nothing you can buy new at $500k+ comes close to them. The last of our GM designed buses are 1999s and still on the road. The previous style Fishbowl buses were finally retired in 2005 because they weren't wheelchair accessible.
Unrelated confession: Taylor Swift's "Our Song" is pretty catchy and if it comes on in Home Depot I will probably sing along and not care what any of the other shoppers think.
I still think im a slacker and suck at my job despite the productivity report that came out today stating that i have almost twice the productivity of the next highest person. And im the top of the list for the entire department, not just my team.
I still think i dont work hard enough or earn my pay.

So in an 18-minute video, there's maybe 4 minutes of actually running the carts? And it doesn't even start until 12+ minutes in? Ain't nobody got time for that.

I know exactly how you feel. I sit here every day expecting someone to pop up and say "The gigs up! We know you've been faking it this whole time! Follow Hanz and Franz out the door please."
Studies have found that the most successful employees are the ones with this mindset. It just means your the rockstar!

We were at a wedding last year for one of SWMBO's friends and the shuttle between the hotel and reception venue was one of those old GMC buses. It was super cool, had apparently just undergone a major restoration and this wedding was its maiden voyage. 2 speed auto that felt like a mule kick to the ass very time it shifted, manual steering (!) that appeared to require superhuman levels of effort in spite of the fact the steering wheel was about 30 ft in diameter, and a Detroit 6-71. Despite, to my best recollection, having never heard one in person before, I knew immediately what that engine was the second he fired it up, no other diesel sounds that good.

Well, they run them a ton in other videos (along with drift trikes and drift coolers), I just happened to be watching that video when I made the post.
I've been messing with the lawnmower all spring trying to get it to run properly because Mrs. Deuce has been complaining. Cleaned the carb. Replaced the thermal choke. Screwed with all the adjustments. I can get to run ok when warm, but it's been running poorly for almost a year now. In a last ditch effort this morning I said berk it and left out the air filter that I've banged out a million times. And it ran great. New air filter on order.

My lawnmower surges when not under load. I can't figure out why.
In reply to Duke:
If ti has a governor, it's probably a bouncy spring. If it's just revving and sagging, that is.
Confession: I want an MGB because I think SU carburetors and kingpin suspension is wonderfully anachronistic.
I've never worn a tie-dye shirt.
In reply to Duke:
Provided you don't have old gas contaminated with water, it may have trash in the carb which can cause a lean surging condition. Cleaning out the carb and float bowl should correct it.
After events at work today. I remember Comstock's "Bobo" thread and find myself thinking "yeah, but what if Bobo is my boss?"

I hadn't seen an episode of Friends until the other night.
I don't think I was missing much.

The only reason I ever watched a second episode of Seinfeld was Julia Louis Dreyfus.
I don't know how to drive with a trailer.
In reply to Dusterbd13:
I don't either but sometimes I pretend I do.
I think I can handle a trailer better than my dad can, I'm still terrible though. What I'm worse at is guiding somebody else when trying to maneuver a trailer. Specifically when the one behind the wheel is my dad. He's equally bad at taking my terrible directions. Every time we do this I wish he'd just get the hell out of the truck and let me do it.

There's a house I've driven by several times now that has an old first generation mustang body on a 4x4 frame sitting in the driveway. It's moved since the last time I saw it.
The confession? I'm thinking about just knocking on the door and asking if we can be friends because that looks like such a fun toy.

Lol this hits so close to home. I can hold my own OK, but my dad is awful at backing a trailer and worse yet at taking directions. What's even funnier is my mom is actually the family trailer backing ace as a result of towing horse trailers, so most of these incidents end in "Mom...we got the trailer stuck..."

Seinfeld and Friends somehow keep getting lumped together but shouldn't be. Seinfeld was a much different and very funny show.

When we were using a tractor to launch and recover our 22' I/O, I got really good at it. The combo was probably 36 feet long, and I could back that thing full length into a shed bay that was about 12" clear on either side of the beam.
That had the advantage of a long trailer and short tractor, plus infinite visibility. With the tire trailer behind the Miata, I can't back up 10 feet without jackknifing it.

Yeah, I wouldn't purposely go seek Seinfeld out on the TV, but if it was on, I would watch, get a few chuckles. Friends I just kinda sat there and went "Why do people say this is a must-watch?"

I hate Friends, with a passion. I watched about 10 episodes with a girl back in high school. Didn't very far with the girl, and Friends was certainly not worth putting up with for as far as I got.
And I'm a guy who LOVES sitcoms--I can sit and watch HIMYM, or Cheers, or Seinfeld for hours. But Friends? Just crap.

Yeah, Friends was crap from start to finish. DW isn't a rabid fan, but doesn't mind it. I find it intolerable. Then I think that the main character actors were making a million dollars each per episode, and I lose all faith in humanity.
