Apparently "someone" called in a concern for the health and welfare of two girls living at my address (ages 18 and 16!).
It's not like this lowlife is the one who introduced his own daughter (18) to the 31 year old drug dealer or anything
Maybe the concern is that you were not raising them to be cracked-out strippers.

Nothing like 10 hours on the interstate to remind me that almost every other person is a complete idiot.
Sometimes I remind myself that if everyone you meet is an a-hole, then you're the a-hole.
Then I pass a line of 10 vehicles parked nose-to-tail in the center lane, on the right, and I think, well, if the options are a-hole or idiot, I'll take a-hole any day.
Dude. I DREAM of having the line of cars parked in the center lane. Around here they are permanently fossilized in the left lane.
For some reason Facebook is unhappy with my for sale ad trying to sell my truck. I've tried editing the description to take out anything I think would flag it, but it still gets flagged.

Is it Facebook themselves, or could it be the competition flagging the post?

It’s job security for me but when you’re morning revolves around getting people to work it’s a bit frustrating when the starts closing before everyone started coming in. We were given a time and made announcements for people to prepare then came in to find all the street closures in effect by 7am leaving our drivers to deal with understandably angry customers. Most of the people affected are coming in from outside Manhattan and then after being delayed were getting dropped off on the opposite side of the parade route from where they should have been. I don't understand why if they insist on having events on weekdays they can’t wait until most people have gotten to work.
Meanwhile. It would be really damn nice if the chip conveyor on this lathe could finish a part before it jams up. And when it does jam it would be nice to not have to make a dozen trips between the front and back of the machine to fix it too.

Dude I know has a pretty badass Haas CNC lathe for sale fairly "cheap". Maybe convince the company to buy it now then get it for pennies when they shut down or whatever they were going to do.
(If anyone is interested I'll put you in touch, it lives at Robert Morris University, has 44 hours on the clock, asking 3 challenge cars)
In reply to RevRico :
The lathe in question is a vertical lathe that is like roughly 2 cubic caprice wagons big. We use it to cut our wheel forgings down to final dimension. Up to 21" in diameter.
3 months after back surgery and 5 weeks after returning too work the back and nerve pain has made a sudden comeback. I'm still paying off the first round and it looks like another round of back surgery is on the horizon
So I did the Secretary of State thing yesterday to renew my license. Got the WHOLE brunt of how much it sucks- LONG wait and multiple crying kids. Really irritating.
But my rant is actually that it should not be that way- and it's already set up to partially not be that way. The problem is that NOBODY KNOWS THAT IT CAN CHANGE. That included me.
I went onto the MI SOS page yesterday, hoping that I could make a timed appointment for the work. Could not see the link, and assumed that it could not be done. Get to the SOS only to find signs telling me to avoid the wait, and make an appointment. On a TOTALLY DIFFERENT WEBPAGE. Duh- if you want people to make appointments, it should be easy to do and find.
Those screaming kids should not be able to torture their moms due to boredom as mom should have been easily able to make a specific timed appointment that meant that the time would be 5-10 min (which is the normal window time for the actual work).
Why is it that hard to find that info????
Looking at the progression of people being called to the window- very, very, very few people were aware that you could make an appointment. That's sucks. And that's my rant. Not the SOS, or the crying (and REALLY annoying kids).... The fact that they have a system to fix it, and don't bother telling people about it is stupid.
Wow, I can remember when NJ was like that. Last month I renewed mine, I was in and out the door in fifteen minutes.

Pretty sure it is Facebook since it is immediately after I posted.

Delaware's DMV is on point, too. Even with the safety and emissions check, I can usually get a car inspected and renewed in under 15 minutes.
But alfa's original point is valid. Government sucks and government websites suck right along with it.
It's amazingly difficult to find the most basic information on them, despite their typically massive size and complexity. Simple stuff that should be right there just isn't. Try finding what version of the building code your local jurisdiction has adopted, for instance. Dollars to donuts you'll have to actually call them and ask.

We had a similar problem with the posts for the yard sale for the Dancer's non-profit- I would post them (in the 'yard sale/tag sale' category and they'd almost immediately get taken down. After the second time I finally clicked on the 'contest removal' or whatever and basically said, "WTF is wrong with this post it's literally for a yard sale, stop deleting it or tell me exactly what to fix!" and a short while later it was put back up and left alone until I deleted it at the end of the day.

Since my colleague loves to go to “Five Guys” for lunch, I gave them a third and final chance.
Still the same: not fast, not cheap, mediocre burger and horrible fries, all served (for some stupid reason) in a well shaken paper bag, which I have to unpack at the table.
Nope.

Yep. Evaporator coil is frozen up. I guess the good news is that I've got a 410a system as opposed to 22. Some day, when and if my HVAC guy decides to return my call, I'll find out if we can just top this one off or if we're going to play the "you need a new system" game.
Please God, is it berkeley this E36 M3 o'clock yet?????
Dear cool local welding shop. I prefer you to Airgas, but just being randomly closed when your "normal" hours are already funky is really annoying, especially right now when I have to drive across town to my shop, then back across town with the bottle to get to you.
EDIT: it's not ideal, but apparently the woman who runs the place wasn't feeling well today, and when that happens, there's no Plan B. She did answer when I tried later, and was there to meet me with argon ten minutes after that. In future, I'll always just call first. It was a pain today, but I can adjust my expectations and not assume she'll be there.

When they find the leak, make them show it to you. And then they should be able to explain specifically why they sold you the wrong system many years ago. Happened to us, and it actually made sense to spend the money.

After not getting a return call from the guy that we always used to use I actually called another outfit and am waiting on them to show. The system in the house is about 20 years old and was put in by the builder so it's probably a piece of junk anyway. The evap coil was replaced about 10-12 years ago due to a leak and there is a bit of corrosion on the coil now, so it wouldn't surprise me if that was the cause of a leak. I'm just not in a good position to be dropping a bunch of money on the stupid thing right now. Everything always seems to happen at once!
I asked my new Amazon Echo Auto to call my mother at home. Instead, it called her mobile. The Echo went unresponsive - it beeped the listen tone when I said the wake word, but immediately stopped listening. The call remained open until I could stop the car and hang up. I now have the embarrassment of leaving a five minute voice mail of me shouting at a cloud to hang up.
Ollie wants to play, and between work and home going to E36 M3 he’s been getting about five minutes a night of playing fetch. This morning as I am running out the door he’s been following me with a ball, a snoopy, and a Subaru trying to pick a toy I’ll stay and play with. I really thought about calling in sick.

Revisiting a former rant....
In August of last year, I asked AT&T to disconnect a fourth line that we were no longer using. Scroll back to see that one. Net of it was that they gave me a convoluted process to follow to request a refund for the 10 months' worth of service I didn't want or ask for but told me they could give me 3 months' worth as a bill credit. Fine.
My bill became available yesterday and I switched all my lines to T-Mo today. In that process, I discovered that they did not give me the bill credit I was promised. Should have been about $50. So I called. The new story is that I "declined" the bill credit when I talked to them last month and the best they can do now is to give me a $25 bill credit.
I fully expect that I will not see that credit either... I'm very happy to be done with these jackholes.
(Upside is that the A/C is working great now. Apparently this unit is famous for leaking refrigerant and just needs an occasional top-off)
Paid my $5 to post a beater for sale on craigslist. Within 10 minutes of the ad going live, I've gotten three texts. One is in a nearby area code, but is illiterate enough that even if it isn't a scammer, I don't think I'd want to deal with them. The next is a Louisiana area code number asking me to email a gmail address - scammer. The last is somewhat less illiterate than the first, but the area code is based in Houston. I know people keep their phone numbers a lot of times when moving nowadays, but it's not worth it to reply to a likely scammer.
If it doesn't sell within a week, I may just pull the ad, and keep the car around until the tags are close to expiring, then drive it to the junkyard and take whatever they'll give me.
