Ran into the exact same thing with my step daughter this summer teaching her to drive. It was really stressing her out.
Even had a guy yell at her- "Are you just learning to drive???"
I yelled back, "Yes, she is, you moron!"

When I sold my last Miata the kid who came to buy it was pretty new to driving a stick so his test drive literally became a driving lesson. He was a touch slow at a light and when the jackass behind us tore past he shouted at the poor kid "learn to effing drive!!" Thanks pal, you're helping.
OTOH, I got stuck behind an old lady the other day who was swerving, going 15 mph, and pulled out in front of a car causing him to slam on the brakes.
Since she pulled onto a dead end road I followed her to her stop and asked her if she had been drinking. "No'. Had she had a stroke or medical condition? "No". Was she aware she had just pulled out in front of a car? "So what"
At that point I felt justified telling her to turn in her license and stop berkeleying driving!

Since the majority of drivers seem to be constantly on their cell phones, more than a couple of seconds will get you a honk from me.
Maybe one of these?
Wife and I got honked at while she was learning to drive stick by people who were LEAVING CHURCH on a Sunday morning. We were not leaving the parking lot, but we were on the nearly abandoned 2 lane road going slow since she hadn't shifted to 2nd yet. They pulled out of the parking lot, caught up to us (about 1/4 mile), and then honked. They had plenty of space to just go around...
Just used up all your forgiveness for the week in there I guess?
PS I've got a few student driver magnets from when I was a driving instructor. Pm me if you want one.

The Wife has been having some issues so her neurologist ordered some tests to make sure nothing serious was going wrong. Usually their assistant calls to tell her the results over the phone. Today he called and asked us to come in and talk to him on Monday. It’s going to be a long weekend.
Fortunately the most serious test, the EEG showed no troubles with her brain, and the ultrasound of her neck came back clear. There are some disc issues with her back the mri showed that aren’t a complete surprise. Now we need to find out what therapy/exercise she can handle with her other problems to keep it from getting worse. Thankfully it was now as bad an appointment as it could have been.
Got thrown on to a national project because the guy running it is on a cruise for the next weeks.
One. Giant. E36 M3show.
Even worse is that this is supposed to be going on for the remainder of the year and then some.
I don't think I can run away fast enough.

Ask any restaurant worker their opinion of customers who came in just after church. It’s probably not going to be positive.

I have been taking my 16 year old out so he can practice driving and three times we have been honked at when pulling away from lights or stop signs. He is learning on a stick and while he is still a little slow to take off sometimes to me it does not seem overly long. People piss me off a lot of the time.
Where I live, the traffic seems to generally be survival of the fittest.
ALL of the driving schools have prominent signs on top of their car. Additionally, many parents use stick on magents that say "student driver" on the sides and back of their car. The exceptionally awesome ones teaching their kids how to drive stick may put a "Learning manual transmission" sign in the back window, too.
While this shouldn't be needed, and everybody should be patient and tolerant of those around them, it DOES help reduce the "WTF factor" when one of those cars does something that a beginning driver does. I've also noticed that people start driving defensively (AMAZING!) around those cars, which generally makes traffic safer.
So, maybe get a sign? If nothing else, being clearly identified as a student driver may reduce the stress your daughter is feeling, because then her mistakes are clearly just learning experiences, and other's impatient reactions to them are a reflection on them, not her.

I don't like this new game my family is playing. They turn on every light in the house then leave, and I try to find the one they missed. So far they are pretty damn good at it. I see motion light switches with timers in our future...
First day on this cycle of night shift and I woke up at 1:30PM. My shift is 7PM to 7AM. Tonight is going to suck .
The shifts are supposed to be one month on days followed by one month on nights. My last day shift schedule was 2 weeks long proceded by 3 months on night shift. Now I'm back on nights for at least a month. I'm turning into a berkeleying vampire . I worked this schedule before when I was on active duty in the same type of environment and I couldn't wait to escape it after a year.
The money is good but man is this place taking a huge physical and emotional toll on me. I'm not having a good time as the kids say these days .
Today I got the cops called on me for "suspiciously" sitting in a parking lot...by another guy sitting in a parking lot.
At least the cop was pretty friendly, but WTF?
A couple of months ago, I bought a fairly solid CRX Si with a dual cam motor swap. We got it running, cleaned up, and ordered a few hundred dollars worth of steering, suspension, brake, and tune up parts to fix all of the immediately obvious issues. I've put 200 miles or so on the car and enjoy it, but I can't make myself order the remaining $1700+ in suspension bits that I'll need to make it the autocross and back road dominator that I know it can be. Then this thread about building vs. buying pops up here on the forum and has the wheels spinning in my head even more. Doing this E36 M3 on a limited budget is hard, but I'm thankful to be in a position where I can even have these internal debates.
A C5Z, C6, Elise, Viper, 996T, and any number of other things would scratch the same itch and (maybe) be a lot less effort. Automotive ADD at its finest.

You should get into curing meat. I'm trying to find a place in my house to or just such a fridge specifically for when I'm brining hams so I don't fill up the main fridge
In reply to Powar :
You won't be able to store a Corvette or Viper by parking it sideways in front of the Saabs though.
We have been churning out new drivers pretty regularly this year and people have absolutely no patience for it. New drivers have to come from somewhere and the only way to learn is through doing it. The lack of understanding is incredible. Yes they are slow, no they can’t answer all your questions. Without anyone learning to drive there will be no one left to move everyone around.

Imagine an entire hotel full of Southern Baptists fresh from conference. For an entire week. The only time i've heard of worse was the herbalife convention.

I almost got in a wreck on the way to work one sunday because a member of the after church crowd just assumed I was going to let them out even though I had the right of way.
My first thought was "you expect a younger guy with a crappy beard driving a convertible Mustang to be generous?"

I still need the sticker that says "This car cost me 400$ and I have made my peace with God. Cut me off and see what happens next. "

On a similar note. A ratty looking crew cab long bed truck with loud exhaust is surprisingly effective in Nashville traffic at delivering such a message without a sticker. (Not my nornal approach but when in Rome...)

Shame you don't know anyone with a sticker maker

When somebody pulled out in front of me, I may have uttered the phrase: "Oh, we're going to crash? That's cool." while my wife was in the car before.
Turns out it wasn't cool. At all.
"This is an $800 hunk of E36 M3. I'll send us both to Hell!"
