After digging for almost 3 days, in 90 plus degrees, moving a few tons of dirt by hand, and shoveling a few tons of gravel by hand, the weather man says massive rain tonight, I finished this afternoon.

A 130 foot French drain is installed.

The E36 M40 rain missed by a couple of counties so I can't see the water run out of my new drain! E36 M40 it!

Well, then the town has put the lawsuit on hold and is going to try and work out a solution with the park. Why that wasn't their first avenue, instead of a lawsuit, who knows? I'm curious how this affects the owner's statement yesterday that even if the park didn't go under, he was going to sell it off at the end of this season because he was sick of the NIMBYs and small town politics.

Well it is good to know the local NIMBYs are keeping their eye on the prize. Now they are railing against...affordable housing. A developer wants to build an affordable mixed use development in our downtown. The newest apartments in our city are 40 years old, the oldest ones are nearing 60 years old. Rent is going up already and longtime residents are being run out of the city. The proposed development would be in downtown, thus not disrupting any neighborhoods. So what are the NIMBYs mad about? The possibility of affordable housing causing blight in downtown.

These are the same people who "support" affordable housing vocally, just not near their house. Or over there. Or there. Or near that neighborhood....

I cannot wait for the next time someone says Windows 10 is faster than 7.

I have been sitting here for six minutes staring at some random high-res photo waiting for the login screen, hard drive grinding away.  Never mind that I should not have to log in to a private computer that doesn't get connected to anything.

I tried to wheelbarrow the scap neon shell. Something went pop.

Right arm. It'll feel better when it quits hurting.

My 286 took forever to boot up at 20 seconds, and it had 640k of RAM.

For lulz I wiped most of the hard drive so I could try to install Windows.  (Like to say it was 3.0, 3.1 required DOS 5 and my computer did not like anything but 3.3) That made it take 5 minutes to boot up.

My Core i5 laptop takes longer to boot up than a 286 that was old when it was bought new in 1989.

Found my VIRB and my GoPro shell.  They were in the Volvo's center console.

Okay, Past Me, what the HECK were you thinking putting them in the one car where they will never be used?

I am still on furlough from work. The casino I am employed at is still shut down by Executive Order. I went to sign into the unemployment website today to certify my benefits and was told I needed to call in.

A letter also came in the mail today too, stating that "this is to advise you that a change was made to the way you receive your unemployment benefit payment. This could include changing your Direct deposit account, going from Direct Deposit to a debit card or debit card to direct deposit. If you did not request this change, contact a reemployment center.

I am hoping I was not hacked at the Department of Labor. Just to sign in you need to input your SS number three times and birth date twice. They would not need much more to do some identity theft

Reason # 5,470,231 why I hate drop in bedliners:

I pulled the factory installed bedliner this afternoon because I found a brand new, still-in-the-box Bedrug on eBay for $300 shipped. As you can see from the pic above, there were all kinds of leaves, decomposing insects and about 5lbs of slimey sand under the bedliner. Once I wrangled it out of the bed, I drove to the local carwash to blow all of that nasty E36 M3 out. Then I noticed that the bedliner rubbed through the paint in multiple places. Some are all the way down to bare steel:

This being Florida and all, I'm surprised that there was no rust anywhere in the bed. Can I hit these spots with some paint? I have a 5oz aerosol can of factory touch up paint. Man I hate drop in bedliners angry

I can't wait for the whole stupid 'Exo car' and 'Death kart' trend to be over.  They are dumb, dumb, dumber than dumb and fundamentally stupid.  The original Ariel Atom that started the craze was only ever intended to be a design exercise, not a 'proper' car.  There are so many better ways to design and build a car, including for light weight.

/Rant.

Totally agree. Compare a Lotus 7 (or Locost) to an exo-car and I'll pick the former every time.

I'm tired. Ready for the world to take its foot off the craziness pedal. Just ease off a bit instead of keeping it matted to the floor.

Please stop breaking my coffee makers. That two of them in the last 3 months.

Does anyone make a pour over coffee maker out of anything other than glass? These apparently have a pretty short life expectancy around my house.

Does this include the Exocet? Because, I dunno, those things are pretty great. I rode in one and it was a life-altering experience. A ~1500lb, ~240whp Miata on 245-width Hoosiers is the wildest ride I've ever gone on.

This should be in Minor Confession, but...I kind of want to build a C4 Vette-Death-Kart, paint it flat black, paste Adrian's ass at an autocross, and make his head explode. laugh

I saw those. I make a liter of coffee in the morning instead of a cup. Most of what Amazon carries is cup sized or glass unfortunately. Not a huge deal, I'll just buy them two at a time so I have a spare. Looks like it's French press, Aeropress or instant for the weekend.

If you do that, you’ll never break one again

How hard could it be to make one? Plastic jug and a funnel would probably do it, right?

*edit. Post deleted because I don't like the message I conveyed.

I don't want to fight. I keep finding myself in situations where people want to pick fights. I do not know how to avoid these situations, so instead I simply choose not to escalate. I still leave with a knot in my stomach and I hate it. I calmly explain my logic, but it seems to fall on deaf ears (because flounder, flounder, flounder,  WHORE MEDIA).
I try to avoid anger in all aspects of life, and here especially I feel that I do that pretty well, but still, this pit in my stomach grows and I end up feeling like garbage.

Used to be, when I'd get in these funks, I'd get fairly self destructive, so now I worry that I may fall on old habits and that has me slightly panicked too.

Im tired. I feel sick inside. Somehow, through the twisted mind I've been given, deliberately not succumbing to fear has made me afraid. That may not make sense, or my ability to express myself coherently may be lacking. Either way, the clouds outside are quite appropriate.

I outlived my push mower which finally buckled in 1/2 from body rot and I had to buy a new one. Having already had a heart attack, stent surgery, and all kinds of other health issues I decided I should buy a self-propelled because mowing after I got out of the hospital the past couple times was kicking my butt and I'm not going to get younger or healthier.

It goes to fast! I don't want to walk that fast and it's too fast for thick grass. Like a lot of modern mowers there's a preset engine speed and even if I change that, the drive speed MPH to cutting speed ratio still wouldn't be right for the thick parts.  So now I've gotta figure out how I'm going to modify the drive speed ratio of my BRAND NEW MOWER! I have to, because it will drive me nuts if I don't. The whole time I'm mowing the damn thing's doing a rolling burnout while I hold it back. If I was willing to walk that fast I'd have to mow twice a week for it to do a decent job, and I'm in S FL so ALL YEAR LONG!
