got a call from my insurance company for a very minor fenderbender I was involved in a month ago. Seems the lady I got in the issue with told them that she was sitting in her car parked, when I supposedly backed into her brand new infinity. Sorry, but you were part way out of your spot and ran into me when I was about to pull forwards. You can expect a call back about your statement

So we can go to a local fest, pay $12.00 to look at over priced merchandise, eat overpriced food, and see none of the things promised to us because they do it on Saturday and not the Friday we went, spend $15.00 on a dance recital for children, buy overpriced food on several occasions last weekend, and you don't have enough money to go to a $10.00 motorcycle show that I've been talking about non-stop FOR OVER TWO MONTHS?

I'll be sure to help set up the bridal shower for your sister on Sunday.

Nice to know where I stand.

The last few days SWMBO's Mariner has been weird when trying to start it- would turn over like twice and then die, and if you turned it off and tried again it would start. Initially thought it was something with the key-chip system, but some further checking (and the timely arrival of the shop manuals yesterday) led me to determine that it was the battery going out. No problem- sucks to have to spend $100+ on it, but the battery was like 6 years old so can't complain too much. Stop and hit an Advance on our way home from dinner last night to get a battery figuring I may as well save the effort and have them replace the battery for me while I'm there. Get halfway through checkout and to where they asked about the core and when I said it was still in the car they said, "Oh, we're not installing batteries, it's too close to closing." Great, thanks for nothing. Especially since the Mariner is STUPIDLY easy to replace the battery on compared to most other vehicles I've dealt with. So I got to spend 5 minutes doing it myself when we got home, and the car is back to working properly.

I suppose I shouldn't complain TOO much... it's the first wrenching I've gotten to do in the last few weeks thanks to how much has needed to be done for SWMBO's upcoming show. Ironically, I'll probably get to do some more over the next few days- it's ironic since the reason I will need to do it is ALSO related to the show. SWMBO told the male dancer who is from out-of-town for the show that if he couldn't work it out otherwise that he could borrow one of our cars... which of course translates to one of MY cars. So I need to tighten a few bolts on the Jeep so he can drive that if he needs to, and recharge the dead battery on the Riviera so I can drive it if I need an actual car and not just the scooter.

SWMBO was surprised I suggested he take the Jeep and not the Riviera until I reminded her that a) I care far less about the Jeep than the Riv despite the Jeep being worth far more, b) the Riv is far less tested and more likely to have something go wrong with it, and (what convinced her the Jeep was the best choice for her dancer) c) that the Riviera doesn't have A/C while the Jeep's works great.

Tried riding in again this morning after taking it easy yesterday and didn't make it to the end of our street before turning back and taking the scooter instead due to my knee starting to hurt. Turning things up a bit and taking some Ibuprofen and trying to take it easy on the knee for the next day or so.

I understand why they wouldn't install the battery. Last week or the week before I had to get a new battery for the challenge car. Hey free installation doesn't count against budget, sure put it in for me. 2.5 hours later, they were finally done.

It's right up front behind the passenger headlight. Not buried in the car, no bizarre connectors or anything.

In reply to RevRico:

The Mariner's literally took me 5 minutes. 2 8mm nuts loosened so the battery connections could be removed, 2 10mm nuts so the battery tie-down crossbar could be removed. Lift out old battery, drop in new, replace 2 tie-down nuts and reconnect and tighten battery connections. It was just annoying when the car is parked right in front of their window with the massive FREE BATTERY INSTALLATION! banner in it. They're free to have the policy- and I'm free to rant about it.

Taking the in-laws to the airport and MIL is already yelling at Grandma about her ID for the plane.

Now we're here and I have to wait with them for an hour while they shove expensive airport food down their throats and hush over our daughter.

I fully expect waterworks from them and my wife when they finally go through the security gate.

Personally, I'll be happy to have my house, my wife and my child back to normal again.

If there ever was a time to think about buying a stupidly big house, it's when the in-laws visit, that way I could escape or at least watch what I want on Tv....

Oh crap. I just started training for this kind of job on Monday.

My rant? Training is from 930 to 600 everyday for the next few months. Add a half hour commute each way and my day is pretty much shot. I'm actually wishing for the 730 start that I had at my old job which was only 5 minutes from home.

Or you can just remove the lid and pour out of the container into a funnel... No extra expense necessary.

The anti-spill funnels are admittedly very nice, the first time you use them. The second time, the O-ring will have swollen and it won't work right.

I bought my "not handy" brother a washer and dryer last fall as a wedding gift. Used because I'm not wealthy and he's just starting out in life. Apparently the washer leaked.

So I did some investigation and found that it was the tub seal. No biggie, watch a YouTube video and do the work. He orders a tub seal and spanner wrench, I go over to his house this evening to do the work.

Like I said: he's "not handy".

I tear apart the washer as per the instructions in the video only to discover that the video is mislabeled and should have read "replacing tub seal AND bearing kit for Maytag top loader". So I reinstalled the old bearing with a new seal.

"Brother, while I do this do you want to take these big, nasty parts out to the yard and wash them before I reassemble it?" Oh, you don't own a garden hose or a scotch brite pad. Well why would you, you're only 33 years old and married. A pot of water and a sponge should be fine for the substandard job you're gonna do anyway.

"Brother, do you have any lube/grease to slide this on?" Of course not, so out to the suburban where I dip a bit out of the power steering reservoir. Works perfect.

It's back together. It doesn't leak. I count it as a win but man-o-man I wonder about my brother. Nice guy but 100% clueless about how to fix things. And apparently considered quite handy by most of the people who know him!!?!? WTF America? You can do better than that.....maybe.

Sorry, I'm laughing because my younger brother (granted he's 27 and not 33, but still...) JUST finished his online bachelor's degree- in English (the major, not the language...), does not have a job, lives with my parents, and his idea of 'getting out' is going out to eat someplace where he can hunt for Pokémon.

Once, before starting out on a drive to come visit and house/pet-sit for us he called me up because he was concerned that the 'Change Oil' light was on in his car (that our parents bought for him) and he was worried about it making the several hundred mile drive to our house. I told him it was just an indicator that it had been long enough time/miles since it was last reset and that he should likely get the oil changed sometime soon, but as long as he checked the oil and it wasn't low it would be fine. I got a call back a few minutes later, "Um, I don't think there's a way to check the oil on my car." He couldn't find the dipstick- granted his car (like many) has a plastic cover over most of the engine, but it was still very little effort to find and check it.

I'd take 'Married but somewhat clueless' any day...

Don't feel too bad, I just bought my niece from nice gladiator style sandals as all her shoes have too high a heel for walking in (even though she insists) and she couldn't get them on.

She missed the zipper on the back

I just got back fom getting a recall done at the dealership....

This was my first exposure to daytime television in YEARS. I'm fairly certain now that the reason so many people are at war around the world is because they've been forced to sit through The View and The Chew and soap operas. I swear, those shows would make Buddha himself take up weapons.

Quoted for truth. Cancelled cable in 2001, unplugged the rabbit ears in 02. Radio, book, netflix for wife and daughter, and this forum. Pretty much it. I honestly wouldn't know what was happening in the world outside of my work area if it wasn't for this forum.

Obligatory rant: every day about this time for the last 3 weeks i get the start of a migraine. Take the meds, and it pretty much screws the rest of the day. Nothing happens because of the medication side effects. Starting to really piss me off. Its worse if i try to get stuff done and either not take the meds or try to work while on them. And my grass is now knee high.

I shoulda schmoozed an invite to her party but the rain won. I woulda done that ten years ago. Damn, I'm gettin' old.
