Different nob-eye related rant: pop rivets suck. And im out of them. Dammit man....

Screw the insurance. $3k is an absurd amount of money for a twenty minute job, no matter how its paid. If that is a legitimate concern, and not a worst case paranoid delusion, well, I don't want to wind up under a patio.
My mom is a timid, overly cautious, slow driver. I offered to lead her out of a family function to the interstate. 35-45-55mph roads. I was doing 5 to 10 under. She couldnt keep up. How the hell can someone doing 45 in a 55 zone out run you?
I got sun burnt today.
Edit: flash burn even in my right armpit. That hurt when i found it with the deoerant stick.
Dropped the teevee portion of comcast months ago.
Signed up for ESPN+ yesterday in anticipation of watching F1 now.
ESPN+ is telling me that I can't watch because my nonexistent cable tv package doesn't feature the channel I want.
What the berkeley is the point of signing up for ESPN+ if it doesn't let me access ESPN+?
so we have this project at work that apparently needs to be done NOW. For those with some background in theatre, we are repainting some of our lekos because the paint fell off. These are the original Source Fours and were on 24/7 for 15 years behind some architectural panels. Now that the space has been renovated, the lights became ours.
Anyway, supposedly months ago our boss was telling us about these lights that need to be stripped of hardware, wirebrushed, repainted, and reassembled. I personally only found out about it 2 weeks ago (along with the rest of the crew) and I personally did 90% of the work of stripping them down because I am the only one who figured out how to do it without breaking the reflector. our boss is so adamant about these lights getting done, he ambushed me before I had even clocked in to talk to me about it.
To add to this pile of misery, I am not on the schedule due to Jury duty next week. After finding out I did not have to appear monday, I offered to come in wearing dirty clothes and spend the entire day getting this job done. I have done most of the work, let me own it and get it done. He flat out refused me, to the point of telling me Monday is a day off and not to come in. This is a CREW PROJECT and he wants to make sure the entire crew works on it.
We painted 4 yesterday, two the way he insisted they get painted, and two the proper way. The insisted upon way was to use flat high heat paint that you apply with a brush. The paint slid right off of the bare aluminum. The High Heat semi-gloss spray paint stuck nicely and looks great, but he doesn't want then done that way.
For what it is worth, these lights have hung in storage for over a year, there is no need or rush to get them done and even the manufacturer recommends against repainting them. They come from the factory powder coated, not painted

I was being a hero, and forgetting that I ain't 20 anymore, and pulled an all-up Mazda 12A out of the back of my car all by myself while all my friends were on the other side of the property. Then I tripped and fell backwards.
You bet your ASS that I shoved that 350-odd pound hunk of metal off to the side as hard as I could as I fell. Not taking an engine to the groin.
In reply to Dusterbd13 : Dude! Go lay down somewhere and relax a bit, obviously you are a danger to yourself right now.
Yep. Last few days have definitely NOT gone according to plan. Im watching movies with iced down boys and doing build thread updates for the rest of the day.
For what it's worth, if I'm not smashing, scraping, cutting, gouging, bending or bruising my body, I haven't accomplished anything this week. In a weird way, it's a mark of progress.
Wind plus rain put improperly protected upper beams on install means this has been my weekend.
This thing is 20 foot by 18 foot. It is not small and it is not light. My hands are like iron again after two days of this.
I definitely hate getting older and some of the problems that it brings. Yeah, yeah, it beats the alternative- but some mornings it doesn't always feel like it...
Got my debit card skimmed, they cleared almost 90% of the money out of my account over the last week. Luckily I took out a decent bit of cash before they got the last of it so I'm not facing an immediate and crippling cash flow problem. Pretty inconvenient, but not nearly as bad as what an insurance company and car dealership did to me last year...
The skimmer was probably inside the case of the machine, I know quite well what they look like and usually inspect ATMs for them before I use them.
Turned 31 today, follow up doctor visit has me off work 2 more weeks or I can work a sit down job. Pretty sure I told him I work in a shop, we don't really have sit down jobs.
I know that right now weather is the low-hanging fruit on the Rant Tree, but, seriously, we are over halfway through April and they are calling for snow every day this week. And the meteorologists just keep saying the same line of "I feel like this weekend is going to be the turning point for temperatures" You've been saying that since the end of February, not buying it anymore

It is starting to get a bit boring, isn't it? And we are actually pretty nice here, in comparison to the eastern half of the continent. Cold, but mostly clear. Looks like a wee bit of snow today, though.

people that drive in staggard patterns down a 3 lane (one direction) road. dammit man. Your ignorance/laziness/selfishness really makes it hard to turn left. Harder/more time consuming than it should be in a modern society.

Oh, I'm on the eastern half. Up in central New York. Absolutely infuriating was this past weekend, where it was 36 and rainy and windy in NY, and a few hours south in Pennsylvania it was 80 and sunny
We were sent out to survey tagged trees. 700+ trees. I think the tagger guy got payed by the tag because the bastard tagged EVERYTHING. Stumps 4ft high. Dead trees. Dead trees that have fallen over.
How the hell do I shoot deadfall?
This guy's an shiny happy person.
Oh goody, a hernia one day before I’m hopping on a plane for a much needed hiking vacation. At least I’m not in pain, but I’ll probably need to take it way easier on this trip than I’d planned.

I'm confused. Somebody tags trees that need to be cut down. Wouldn't the next person be a dude with a chainsaw? You are surveying to give the exact locations of a tree with a tag on it, or just to find property lines so the chainsaw dude doesn't do the wrong guys trees?
Really? 53.5 cents per mile for business but only 14 for charity? Charity wears out my car less than work!? Stupid IRS.

Confused? So am I. All trees 8" and bigger are tagged. Dead or alive. I can see if its to catalog them in case there are any rare trees. But dead ones? There is no saving them. They even tagged ones off site. There is one lot on site thats totally cleared. So stopping tree trimmers isn't the reason. Someone at the county has too much time in their hands.
