Put the E34 on the local CL after not really getting any nibbles on FB (especially after not being game to pay their $15 "boost" fee).
Within three minutes a scammer tried to "verify I'm real" and use that as a scam to port out my phone number.
Then I got the usual "please run a vin report" scam.
Great, I did try to sell a car and got a survey of the current CL scams instead. FFS.

What's that about a scam to port out a number? I've not heard of that one, how does that go?

I hadn't heard of that one either and nearly fell for it.
They sent me a text to "verify I'm the real seller". Stupidly enough I hit on Google's suggested response - "YES" - instead of doing what I normally do, which is say yes by convoluted means. Next thing I get a text saying "please send the code from our verification system back to us, this will verify you're a real seller" and basically got a random spanish text from Google Voice with a 6-digit number in it for verification.
Quick check online suggests that that's a scam that allows the scammer to associate your number with their Google Voice account and as I'm not using a GV account, effectively port out your number to GV.
And now I had the shipment scam. At this rate I’ll have the Royal Flush of scams by the end of the day.

I’ve gotten that recently too. Text us back a code so we know you’re the real seller. Usually an area code 1000 mikes away.
New tires on the autocross car and I fell from 10th PAX and raw to 13th. I think it’s because the people around me are getting faster but it’s disheartening to be slipping like this.
In reply to Datsun310Guy :
The only reason I didn't twig immediately that it was a scam was that it was a local-ish area code.

No air conditioning on the weekends too to add to the fun. Or windows. Just lots of grime, a strange smell and phones that never stop ringing. The biggest problem with being stuck inside beyond no liking to be indoors and not doing what I should be getting done is that it’s usually a result of things going very wrong.
Our planning people have lost all touch with reality. They are going hard to fix years of neglect of the subway system, but shutting down a train requires replacing it with buses. Somehow they have scheduled so much work that we really don’t have enough drivers or supervisors to cover it all. It has to be done as overtime because we don’t have extra many people just sitting around in case something happens and as much as everyone likes overtime there are limits to how many hours and consecutive days a driver can work. With the nice weather finally here some of them also like to be off on their days off. Most of my day was finding out how much work wasn’t being covered, passing that along to management, and trying to get it covered. When I wasn’t doing that I was answering complaints from our new, far too hyperactive Twitter monitors who feel I need to drop everything when an unhappy tweet comes in, most of which aren’t even actual problems as much as things the customer doesn’t like. The bus is only stopping at bus stops, the driver can’t make it hotter/colder to suit your wants, etc.
In reply to BoxheadTim :
Can I interest you in a warranty for your vehicle?
In reply to Wally :
"Yes please give me a warranty for my 229k mile Saturn....hello?....can you hear me?"

Selling the item out from under a buyer after making plans to show them the item is crummy.
Not letting the buyer know that and leaving them at the scheduled meeting point is straight E36M3ty.
Damn, I hate being a motivated buyer.
I had two scenarios over the weekend where I was really hoping I wouldn't have this issue. Both hot ticket items for very cheap. Fortunately I managed to get them both. I always try to confirm before I leave to meet someone.

Yeah, I've done that, and arrived at the meeting 30 minutes later to be told the item is sold.
Why can't people do their jobs? It's a simple freaking thing. But you didn't do your job, that I pay you for, and now my electricity is shut off.
In the half hour between getting authorization to take the afternoon off for an ASE test on Thursday, and finishing the waiting appointment that came in as I got that authorization, the test spot got taken. Next available weekend test time that doesn't interfere with a rallycross is September 28.
Berk it. This is why I'd never bothered with getting ASEs in the first place. (I have A1-A9, but I have a hairy bug up my bum to get the L1/2/3 certifications)

Apparently it was actually a mistake on the power company's side of things. Doesn't make it any better...

Sure, working in an office gets dull. But when it’s 20 out, it’s 70 in the office. And when it’s 100 out, it’s 70 in the office.
And it hardly ever rains on my desk.
I just ran a D5 dozer for 2.5 hours today. I hope you enjoy your desk.
Our realtor listed our home tonight. The pictures he took aren’t great but I hope the target market sees the good. We’re buying another home contingent on this one selling so, in the end, we may be staying here another year.
It’ll sell. I’m just nervous.

Pay to have professional pictures taken of your house. You will easily get the $1000 back out of a higher selling price. And the house will sell way faster. Buyers don't read they look at pictures.
Your realtor, on the other hand, should be fired for not doing it for you.
Got to work to find our servers are down so I can't use the DNC that most of our machines are setup on. So can't load any of the programs to cut any of the small part orders I have. So I decided to spend 2 hours cleaning out the machine that day shift team lead said was broken. Nope just all the hydrowash jets were packed with chips. It works fine and is actually evacuating chips now. Probably the most thorough cleaning that machine has gotten in 6 months and it probably won't get another one like that until next time I get fed up with it.

What he said. Either have a professional take pictures, or if you don't like the pictures see if you can take better ones yourself. Did you have the house staged, or is it being sold (and the pictures taken) as it is with all of your stuff in it?

Not in my office. Our HVAC/thermostats are awful. About 1/3 of the building is comfortable, the other 2/3rds are always wayyy too cold in the summer, and wayyy too warm in the winter. My manager's office is the worst; he has a space heater that he uses IN THE SUMMER because it can get as cold as 52* in there when the AC is running. In the winter, he wears short sleeves and often brings in a cooler with ice because of how freaking hot it gets when the heat is running.

I respond to the "request to run a VIN check" scams by asking for the person's credit card information and DOB. About 1/4 the time they respond with exasperation about why they'd ever send their credit card info. Those exchanges give me a little chuckle.
Whenever I post on CL all of the immediate responses are scams.
My well may be radioactive. I'm trying to get in touch with somebody to do some testing and they apparently have the phone off of the hook. It looks like I am going to have to drive to the office and talk to somebody in person.
Today two of our employees each tried to ride the load on a hoist. To make it even better, they intended to hold onto the slings and operate the pendant while riding. For safety of course.
Are they still employees? Most any place would E36 M3 can me if I did that.
