Preliminary results (read: me using all the boost at every possible yet safe instance) suggests that I have solved the weird cutting out/hiccup/DSG-fart thing happening at over 14psi in teh Volvo, ever since swapping in the 2.4l engine over the summer.
It was non-obvious, but obvious in retrospect.

Other than the path to the kitchen, the tile in the living room is all set! I've learned how to tame the crappy wet saw and I'm getting better at leveling the tiles. It's not going to look perfect, but if it looks too good it'll make the rest of the place look even worse! It's only a Drees house, after all.

In about 8 hours I start PTO for the rest of berking 2020.
Had my review yesterday and expected it to be mediocre but instead I got a healthy bonus.
It took a good bit of shoving stuff around and “organizing” but I did it. I got the in-laws’ giant van to fit in the shop.

The 2016 Lionel set I won is way cleaner than a 65 year old toy train has any business being.

You know those updates you get nagged to install? Some fix security vulnerabilites, and some of those come from independent researchers, and some of those are maintained in a public database called Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, and are assigned a CVE number. Thousands are logged each year. I just found out that a responsibly-disclosed report I made a few years ago with a vendor turned into a formal CVE. It's kinda nothing and a little askew from my focus, but it also feels nice.

What was it??
A little soon to tell. We'll see when air temps get over 90F again
Non-OE ignition coils.

Sounds like our local "Fast & Furious" wannabe just blew his engine. This is the guy who enjoys parking in the self-serve car wash around the corner and bouncing it off the rev limiter for minutes at time, over and over. That last session was one too many I guess, because the car was missing and backfiring like hell when he limped it down the street towards home. Breaks my heart.

The hospital called me today in regards to the surgery I'm having on Wednesday and I consider two wins out of that:
First of all, they gave me an up-front estimate of what I should expect to pay. Knowing how much something will cost before I purchase it!? What is this madness!?
Second, they offered me a 15% discount on that estimate if I paid anytime between now and five days after the surgery.
I'm all paid up using my cash-back rewards credit card, I saved $600, and the money is already moved over from my HSA.

Man... been a pretty good week for me.
Got a great deal on a cheap truck from a guy at work:

And found a set of winter wheels and tires for my Focus RS new in the box!

And on the home front, the wife graduated nursing school last week, and received her state board testing date this week. She tests the first week in January! Great start to the holiday week! :)

Hernia surgery was successful, they only needed to patch up my right side, and it was all robot - no need to cut me open!
Migraine-less all day! Headache that was managed by excedrin, but it was MANAGED. thank God.

Found on the side of the road. Gonna build me an outboard test stand that can hold my bucket reasonably as well as a fuel tank

Hey Mikey, he likes it!

Car be all like "thank you".

U pull & Pay had an all you could drag for $50. I could have spent all day in there, but 3 hours netted me this:

Stepdaughter and grandsons are living with us. The younger grandson (15) wanted a desk "for school" (read for his gaming setup and maybe school).
Stepdaughter and grandson decide 'we' should put it together Xmas eve, so I haul out the screwdrivers and we go to town.
The Bad- Some of the worst instructions I have ever seen.
The Good - Grandson was interested, listened, and did a lot of the actual assembly with a little guidance. Also, all the parts were there and made the trip from Asia undamaged.
The Win? I got a hug and a thank you without any prompting from anyone.
I AM wondering who this lad is and what he did with my grandson...
Despite the state of the world in 2020, this was a good Christmas.
After not holding a shotgun for several years, I was 100% today shooting clays.
In the middle of the move. I've moved all of my sockets to the new house. I needed one at the old house to take apart some furniture. Did a little looking around, and I missed one that I'd failed to put away properly a few months ago.
It's the exact size I need.
