My minor win is a major win: as of this afternoon, my wife and I, my in laws, and my parents have all had both doses of the vaccine.

Another win, for humanity: there is a high school student who is scouring all known resources and getting vaccine appointments for those who are unable to navigate the convoluted process. To date, it looks like he has helped at least 25 people schedule their vaccinations.

Articulated buses are terrible in the snow so we have to park them and juggle things around to run standard buses in their place. All winter we've been leaving our electric artics in service and they've been trouble free.

that, my friends is a block of queso frito lovingly fried by my waffle iron placed on top of sliced skirt steak that was sous vide for like...10 hours @ 130* and then seared. with my map torch. Why is it in the win thread and not food porn? I didn't set off the fire alarm nor did I ruin my waffle maker.

Healthy baby girl. Healthy wife. We're happy and resting and watching snow fall from the hospital window.

So do you get "points" at the office as a thank you. Never paid attention to it and they are closing it down so had to cash out after 12 years or so.

2K in gift cards to Best Buy. New iPhones for the wife and I. We are still rocking the the old 6S so two new 12's and enough to get a 3080 with some cash once they become available again.

Asked for the neighbor's okay to have an arborist look at their pear tree and trim some branches that are going to try to occupy the same space as my new garage. They initially offered to chip in, and then before I even got anything booked they had someone lined up and don't even want us to pitch in.

It's their tree, but I don't figure they'd have had any reason to deal with it if we weren't doing the garage, so I'm quite grateful.

I need to ask them if they have any requests for what to grow on the side of the garage facing them to help make up for the change from "mostly open westward view" to "side of my garage" from their back yard.

When I woke up this morning I had minimal interest in a 1947 Willys Jeep. Now I own one.
Maybe this belongs in minor confessions

It might have sucked to have a tire come apart while buzzing down the interstate.  And it might have sucked to find out that my spare was split when the roadside guy arrived.  But the roadside company, Good Sam, not only found me a tow truck but they also called around and found a place that had my size in stock and that they'd do the job by 1900 if I got it there by 1730.  I know that part was filed under my minor rant, but in retrospect that actually worked out really well.  I got a set of Bridgestone Dueler tires with an 80,000 mile warranty, plus they moved one of my old tires (not the split one!) to the spare rim for under half of a challenge budget and they were done in under an hour and a half.

That truck rides so much better now that those all terrain tires are off of it!  It is markedly quieter at surface street speeds and highway speeds and the ride is so much smoother.

Found my old Nintendo at my parents' house, so I brought it home and hooked it up for my kids.  Link (Zelda II) still has my saved game from... 30 years ago.  Made my day

The snow melt is the first big indication that the 10mm migration is about to begin. The 10mms leave their tool boxes after a long winter and go to seek out new projects. Happens every year.

My BIL just tapped the maple trees for the spring season. He has a very small operation, but I usually get at least two quarts.

May be an image of outdoors

Left my Jetta key fob in my pants pocket and it got washed - Hot water.

Took the battery out and left on the kitchen window in the sun shine.

Put the battery back in it tonight and it works!  Major win for me!

Since late November I've been experiencing shoulder pain so severe I was unable to brush my teeth with my right hand. New Doctor says it's a combination of tendinitis and bursitis (motocross shoulder?), and should go away on it's own. I've been up for over 2 hours now and not thought about my shoulder once, and I've been very active all weekend.

Now, if this ocular migraine, (or migraine aura, depending on who you prefer to believe), will go away I might actually be able to see what I'm typing. Good thing is they usually only last about 20 minutes.

Do you use a computer a lot?  Like, all day at work?

No. I'm a millwright and the plant I work in is so oldschool there are actually no computers in the shop - and no computer based inventory systems either (pet peeve). But what's happening is kind of odd, and though I do have theories, my track record is not great, and I'm probably wrong.

I posted about this over an hour ago and my vision is still not yet good enough that I can easily read what I've just typed sad
