Eric Reese is a friend of mine whom I respect greatly. He is a missionary in Rio De Janeiro who works with drug lords, prostitutes, child traffickers, and other people with lives who most of us do not understand.

I share this because the world is a much bigger place than most of us realize, and some of us need to know the truth of what is out there. There are important and eternal things, and I (like many people) tend to get lost in my own little rather insignificant world.

Some of you will not appreciate my posting this. Some will.

It's Eric's daily life. I feel humbled around men like him.

That takes some balls to do. Big, brass ones. Cool video though.

Why wouldn't anyone appreciate this? It's amazing stuff. There are great men still in this world.

Our tiny church manages to support several missionaries in scary places. One of our members works with runaway kids in Liberia. Another family works with street kids in Russia. We are actually getting active in a similar mission in Guatemala. One of our members escaped something bad down there that he won't talk about, but I am fairly sure it was the drug trade when he talks about the cars he had. Eric is definitely a great man, doing what he was asked to do. Sounds simple, but that is probably the hardest thing there is.

This kind of stuff reminds me of the Muslim debates. Many over here don't have a clue that most of the world doesn't operate as they'd like them to.

They've been PC so long they think the world is. WE are the only PC, to the exclusion of our own good and safety, people on the planet.

Everyone else are cheerleaders for their country, their way of life. We are ashamed to be. WHY?

The closest I came was when I was in Guatemala and my next door neighbor's house was blown up (Peace Corps worker). I easily could have been in the house, since I spent most of my time there.

    No one was hurt.

But I didn't choose to get bombed. Eric lives it.

The best I can do is provide some of you with links to his video, so I'm doing my part. Maybe someday my part will be more.
