  • Feb. 11, 2012 7:42 p.m. FleaBag None

So yes, my boyfriend likes things that literally look like they should be taken to the dump--well, maybe the place where they recycle steel.

It's a quality that I don't mind and would like to support on this coming Valentine's day. I think you all will understand.

The problem, like I said--it all looks the same to me, like trash. Until craigslist starts making gift certificates, I just don't know what to get him.

    A little help here?

PS-I really am serious, not a joke post. Although I did try to throw some humor in, but I really need help.

Show up in the garage (it's that place full of his junk where you never go) and offer to help. Yes, you will get a little dirty.

Wear his coveralls, and something very minimal underneath.

    You take it from there.

I've been married 27 years to a non motorhead wife. There is NOTHING she understands about my shop, my dirty stuff, or my interest in being there. But there was one night, long ago... suffice it to say that we strongly considered "Camino" as my daughter's middle name.

It was a "never forget" kind of gift!

In reply to JoeyM: Were you saying I should get him a miata? I know he would like that, but...I think I'll go with the subscription. Getting him a miata would take 3/4 of the fun out of it for him.

    Thanks, you guys came through!

In reply to Osterkraut: Hey I know what those are--but can't remember what they are called--anyway cool. Our house is a little space challenged and we have lots that can double as a paper weight already, so I'll still stick with the magazine.

Buy a 5 gallon bucket and 3 gallons of vinegar...put said vinegar in the bucket and add some rusty parts.

If not Miata, he would probably be happy with one of those know as H1, H2, or H3...what are those called?

There's always a tetanus shot. With a love a rusty parts that could be the gift that keeps giving!

Also, depending on what part of the country a Miata came from (Michigan vs. Florida), it could have plenty of rust.

Don't think you'll go wrong with the subscription though.

When he assembles enough rusty parts, whats he do with the resulting vehicle? it meant a hell of a lot to me when my fiancee comitted to trying autox with me, actually meant it and followed through. Even if you don't like it after wards, the trying will be remembered. :)
