Got to admit that this is pretty entertaining - 23 lamps to go Points leader is running second to the guy who is second in points.

Very exciting Chase for the Cup. Tony drove like a champ tonight.

in August, he very publicly said that he didn't think he belonged in the Chase.. then he wins 5 out of the 10 Chase races- including the last race, with Carl Edwards about a second behind him in second. he and Carl finished tied in the points, but Smoke wins dues to all those wins.
plus he and Carl had some of the best good natured smack talk for the last few weeks..
that's how it's supposed to be.
one annoying thing, tho.. they keep saying he's the 3 time Sprint Cup Champion.. not true- he's got a title in the Winston Cup, Nextel Cup, and now the Sprint Cup. yeah, it's only a name thing and Sprint bought out Nextel and got the naming rights, but that's just disrespectful to all that RJ Reynold's did for the sport over the 30 years they were the title sponsor.

Would have rather seen Carl win it.Ive been a fan since the Atlanta race in '05. I gained a lot of respect for Tony in the past couple weeks though. Sure was a lot better than the shows Johnson has been running the last 5 years.

JJ is too vanilla and just started to take winning as a given. you could tell in victory circle whenever they won that they were all just going thru the motions after just going thru the motions and keeping out of trouble during the race so the car was nice and shiny in victory circle..
Smoke is more outspoken and more of an old school racer and actually appreciates what it takes to win races and championships. and he's willing to do whatever it takes to do it..
i mean, seriously, Tony Stewart ran a freakin Chumpcar race last year.. JJ was probably in Paris, France at a beauty spa that weekend..

Tony drove a great race, and deserved to win this title. Well done.

I don't remember the exact number, but Stewart passed something like 100+ cars to win the race. He came from the back twice. On a track you can't pass on. Yea, he earned it.

The number quoted was 118, so he almost passed the field 3 times!

what's with all the Jimmy Johnson hate ? yeah he's sorta vanilla, but so what ... not everyone can be Kyle Busch....
can anyone on this forum really relate to how unbelievably incredible winning 5 straight cup championships is ? if they did start to look complacent after another victory ... is that their fault or would it be the rest of the fields fault ....
lots of drivers have tried the "lay back and let the carnage happen then swoop in for the victory" thing ... hasn't worked for them..
congrats to Stewart ... in August he really didn't belong in the chase...

I can't believe how polite everybody was to Tony. He went 4 wide, on a restart, beside Kyle Busch. And Kyle let him go.

Probably because Kyle knew that if he did anything stupid, Tony would sit on him after the race.

Kyle was also on his best behavior ie: probation.

Was this the standard green/white/checkered race ending?
Sorry. I couldn't resist. From what I'm hearing I wish I caught the race.

not only if he did anything to Tony... if he caused anyone grieve he knew he might miss next yr.... at either NASCAR's discretion, or Gibbs would have had enough ( thrid... M&M would have told Gibbs .... enough is enough )
