    IMO these were the best Craftsman ratchets. Sears was sued over patent infringement and forced to cease production. Still can be had at flea markets, garage sales, auctions tho. I never broke one of these.

    ummm also kobalt has a lifetime no hassle warranty also... ive had sears tell me no before if i was wearing my uniform from work.

    Another vote for Craftsman here. Toolsets that come in the blowmolded plastic boxes are on sale constantly and have most of what you need organized in one easy grab it and go location. Add specialty or premium tools as needed or when they become available cheap at a flea market, swap meet,divorce yardsale or toolbox on the side of the road (shoulda fixed that tailgate)

    I really need some 3/4 drive stuff for work. I am hesitant to buy Harbor Freight tools for that particular purpose. Loosening bolts that torque to 600 ft.lbs with a Chinese socket scares me.

    Any recommendations? A Proto set to match the rest of my tools is like $1200

    Buy the cheap set to start but look for a top quality rachet or breaker bar. You will probably only use 1/3 of the sockets most of the time anyway. When a socket breaks replace it with a better quality replacement?
