So I have four 5x8 speakers left over from my Mazda that are basically brand new. 2 are 2 way and 2 are 3 way. I plan on using one of these to as a head unit.

I'm not looking for perfect sound, just want to get the most out of a small system in a hatchback. What would be better setup: single speaker per small box? Ported or sealed? 2 speakers per box? Ported or sealed? Or 4 speakers in one box? Ported or sealed?

I also have the factory teeters and a Kenwood 50x2 watt amp.

For what it's worth, I'd trust this one more.

What is your application for this cab going to be? It sounds like a garage setup to me.

Single speaker per box. Being auto speakers, they're made for free air, and have high Q's, so larger boxes will probably be better. Typically unported, but with stuff like that you never really know. With cheap 3 way car speakers, I've had good luck disabling the midrange for better sound. They're usually pretty raunchy. With that kind of a budget setup, some experimentation will help. Line the boxes with fibergalss insulation.

Nice find on the Lepai. All the ones I found were 2 channel.

I guess I'll just use the air space of a typical 6x9 box. I'll be making them out of 10mm thick PVC sheet as I have loads of that stuff in the scrape pile.

    Thanks guys.
