Stray monkeys. And I thought I had problems.

How'd you know they were strays?
For about 3 years we kept finding monkeys in our barn. We tried every way to find out where they were coming from but no one fessed up.
We had as many as 5 at one time. Most were spider monkeys but we had one cappuchin (sp?) (organ grinder's monkey). He was nasty and would throw his poop at you. The rest were sweet and loved to be taken on walks or into the house.
Wait what? I have a pretty good sarcasm/joke filter, but I can't tell if this is tongue-in-cheek or not.
No tongue in cheek, it was for real
Uh... where in hell do you live??

I really like this board, but I see a post that concludes:
"We used to do that for our monkeys"
...It really makes me smile.

Stray monkeys. Wow. I'm staying in SC.
We had outdoor cats for years, if they have a shelter to stay out of the wind and rain they do quite well. We had an old playhouse in the back corner of the yard that was Cat Central.
I am currently owned by Binky the Wonder Cat. He resolutely refuses to go outside, the back screened porch is A Big Adventure for him and he refuses to step foot out of it. Smart cat.

I have a friend with a barn cat who made a little shelter (cardboard box?) and put a heating pad in it for the winter months (in Wisconsin). It seemed really cozy and simple.

I"m bummed. I thought we were gonna help you get rid of a stray cat problem. I got an Akita, no more stray cats!

At this point, there is no stray cat. You can call it that, but the fact is that once you start building heated housing for it, you are simply a member of it's staff, to be used or ignored at will.
It's the nature of the beast.
