I've just heard a rumor that the nemacolin resort is the new greenbriar, complete with underground bunker. Anyone else heard such a rumor??

Yeah, from talking to a buddy of mine that does construction out that way, they dug really really deep for the foundations of it, like 200 feet down, and pumped in lots and lots of concrete. That couple with the fact that everyone wasn't allowed at that jobsite for 3 weeks, and when they went back the foundation was recovered, sorta says something is going on.

I guess the huge airstrip that can handle a 747 might say something as well though...

That place went from little hunting preserve to big fancy resort in a relatively short time. Of course, having the owner of 84 Lumber involved doesn't hurt.

That sticks out like a sore thumb in the google map picture. Giant airstrips in a rural area not all that far away from DC....hmmmm.

I go past that place all the time, but have never been there. They apparently have standards to keep out riff raff like me.

3900ft airstrip = not long enough for the insurance requirements for a Gulfstream bizjet, but I get your point.

You can get a lightly loaded 747 into 3900" but it ain't leaving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1khgtadCIY

the Greenbriar, Nemacolin................wouldn't a Motel 6 or a Red Roof Inn be less conspicuous for a site for an alternate C&C for the gubbmint? But then again, the clearing nearby for landing a 747 might still give it away........

heading down that way in a couple weeks but i'm not rich so i am not going to nemacolin. i do not golf(well anyway) nor do i want to get spa treatment or eat crap that someone else claims is 5 star dining. my dad's buddy has a cabin on the yough about 5 minutes from there, we're going down for the weekend to do fun things like see Falling Water and hit the historical sites on the C&O canal.
