I'm usually not one to gab about stuff like this, but I just stumbled across this rocker-chick--Orianthi. If you like Paramore, Avril Lavigne or even Joan Jett, you'll probably like this girl. Even if you just like a good guitar riff, she can really knock it out of the park.

She's 24, and has played with Steve Vai and others. She was supposed to play for Michael Jackson's tour, but that gig got deep-sixed.

I don't really know any way to legally download her music for free, but I'm sure if you google her, you'll find a song or two. I can totally see myself with this chick's music blaring thru my Miata headrest speakers while blasting thru the twisties. But that's gotta wait--it's freakin' cold here in Michigan, so the car is packed away.

You know how I know you're gay? KIDDING. Didn't really dig the Orianthi stuff, but Paramore is big-time guilty pleasure for me. My wife makes fun of me for loving that song they have on Rock Band II so much. They write some catchy E36 M3 and are some SERIOUS players though.

I think she was posted here before.

Shredders get very boring very fast for me, though.

Same here... although for me, blues gets boring even faster... and probably why I don't listen to much guitar music anymore...

On a semi-related note, my DVD of Flight 666 just arrived. Merry Christmas to me.

On a similar topic, anyone know of any good indie hip-hop or rap? I'd like to hear some good happy rap that isn't so mainstream and filled with all the homeboys rapping about the hood. Any pointers?

Hmmm, just picked up "Ruination" by Job for a Cowboy and "Deflorate" by The Black Dahlia Murder.

Currently have "Wrath" by Lamb of God playing through my headphones here at work.

    Gamby, that's not shredding.

Ian, you're listening to the wrong blues.

She's good, but she's lacking something that Paramore's got.

I think she needs male backup singer. Duets are way better than solo acts.

So you like the easy-listening section at the CD store, eh?

Is Job for a Cowboy that good? I've heard good things. Lamb of God gets really repetitive, but live they definitely will rip your face off if you're not careful.

That said, I was disinterested (sorry) as soon as you said Paramore.

I was just listening to "Blister in the Sun" today during lunch. I then listened to some Beck.

Oh, I'm quite familiar with Buddy Guy... and don't mind him in limited doses... but after awhile it all starts to sound the same to me... sorry.

I found the "Noisettes" by accident while cruising around Minneapolis on my way back to Montana. Heard em' on the Current. (kick ass indie station BTW) I have a hard time describing the style, except awesome.

Man. Back around 92 or so everyone kept telling me how great Buddy Guy was. "If you like blues you HAVE to listen him" I enjoy old acoustic blues so when he came to portland I went to see him play. I was treated to Mr. Guy strutting around in a puffy blouse that would make Rick James cringe, with a polka dotted stratocaster with wireless system hooked to a Marshall stack doing nothing but full gain metal guitar riffs for the entire 45 minutes I lasted. No songs, no lyrics nothing but "meedly meedly meedly" wanking at ear destroying volumes. It was easily the worst live performance I have ever seen. Someday I will forgive him and attempt to listen to to some of his "good" stuff, but I dont see that happening for another decade or so.

Meh. Shredder tone, shredder-ish moves plaing shredder blues. I mean, she's good, but her playing doesn't do anything for me. Sorry.
