Sounds cool. Could be very similar to the Warthog from Halo (V-shaped underside, maneuverability and speed, and I would expect a hybrid powertrain)...and could be more useful in civilian hands too

Old news. ;)
That all said, I expect the HMMV to continue in production for some time even as the JLTV enters production. The JLTV is BIG, and MUCH heavier than a hummer. A number of folks (Oshkosh for example) are working with full electric drive w/diesel generator onboard. I believe payload capacity is ~6000lbs, and vehicle weight will be a multiple of that.Search: Lockheed JLTV, AM General JLTV, BAE Systems JLTV, Oshkosh JLTV for some interesting stuff. Lockheed has youtube videos.

Ahem, note the warthog-like vehicle in the sketch, to the right

So, reading the original article they want something lighter, more agile, reasonably maneuverable, , capable of 90 miles per hour, and easier to transport into and out of battle zones (light enough for a C-130J aircraft to transport two of them). Sounds a lot like a Jeep.
Way back in the 40s they were specced as lightweight, manueverable transport. Sounds like it's still a good idea. Add the v-shaped hull, and you're set.

^ The trouble is, the amount of armor necessary to meet the survivability specs means it's likely going to weight 20000+ lbs in some variants. And still be agile. And fast.
They're looking for MRAP survivability and Jeep maneuverability. It's going to be a challenge. Word is the top three contenders get chosen tomorrow. We'll see.
