No oil pan, per se. Oil is stored in a remote reservoir and pumped through the engine. Results in much more consistent oil pressure, and the engine can be mounted lower in the chassis, lowering the centre of gravity.

I read that low center of gravity was a big goal in the engineering of this model.

Z06 widebody in sheetmetal = heavy.

Still, good-looking car. Probably a dandy of a grand tourer. I'd get some newschool deep-dish wheels for it, though. As others have stated, not too keen on those wheels.

Yep, no excess oil windage, etc. The drawback is that the extra pump draws more power from the motor, but that is usually offset by the extra speed (whether via confidence or via an improved CoG) through the corners.

Also makes oil changes pretty easy since the oil tanks are usually upright cylinders in the car. However they also usually hold quite a bit more oil than the engine ever did stock. I think a buddies 328GTS holds 12-quarts of oil? Makes oil changes 'spensive!

    Whoops--fingers got ahead of brain.

Chassis is steel instead of aluminum, fenders/hood/front clip are 'glass instead of carbon. 150lbs heavier than the Z06.

Moot for 99% of its owners who will use it as a boulevard cruiser/grand tourer (as I would).

Yikes, $74,875 CDN for a Grand Sport -- although they are advertising a $4000 discount. Too bad for me . ..
