There was a 2 stroke Saab running a hillclimb that I was working that had expansion pipes. Thing sounded like an F1 car leaving the line.
Hard to describe, but it sounded like it screamed, then after a few gears, when it was headed uphill, the tone increase of the increasing revs stopped.. It was not a very fast car.
So basically, hearing it leave the line, at the lower stations, we got back from the guardrail expecting a flyby by a FAST formula car, only to have this thing go by BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
