My parents asked me to look for a vacation destination in the Gulf region of Florida and Alabama this year and i am having no luck. Every time i do a search every result is paid for by one resort or another. I can't find any REAL reviews and am beginning to become slightly frustrated. Does GRM have a sister publication that does good travel reviews and is not filled with paid reviews. They are looking for an upscale type place that has good dining in the area. Right now i am looking at Gulf Shores in AL but down the coast in FL is fine to.

Trip Advisor. Reviews from people that have stayed there. Never let me down. For Gulf Coast- up scale, good dining, very interesting- Don Cesar, St. Petersburg Beach. Place is incredible.

I got pretty good advice from Fodor's forums. It was pretty easy to spot and ignore the shills.

I'm not a beachgoer. Wife is not fond of Disney World, but I am. We made a trade-off. She convinced me to go to The Don on our honeymoon. Wow! I actually enjoyed it. In November. She got the short end of that deal.Trip Advisor. Reviews from people that have stayed there. Never let me down. We went back a few years later, as well.
