    We have a Magic Chef stove from the 50s, similar to this one:

    If works great aside from the knobs on the right side being hard to turn, and the ones on the left side are getting there. From some research it looks like the valves need cleaned and greased. Has anyone done something like this before? Tips?

    Sell it for a mad profit and get a gas range/electric stove combo.

    Well it is my parents and they really like it. It came with the house when they bought it 20 some years ago.

    I understand, there is a pretty hefty demand for those retro appliances right now (at least I've heard there is).

    If they are standard valves, you should be able to replace them no problem. Even if they are not standard, you can probably re-plumb the entire stove without too much of a problem.

    I'd think a good cleaning and lubrication would be a good idea - those old stoves aren't all that complicated.

    That would be more path: rip it apart, see how it works, clean it, install new seals, put it back together.

    How hard could it be?
