Sunday night, 12: 50am, I have SEVEN Ft.Lauderdale cop cars in front of my house. One guy on the ground. I open my front door, they YELL at me to go back in the house. WTF!!! More to follow, as long as I do not go to jail with the perp.

Last night around 3am there were 3 cop cars, 3 bike cops, and one paramedic outside the back window of my apartment. I never did find out what was going on.

Well, apparantly some fool decided it would be a good idea to run from the Popo. Got as far as a power pole across the street from my house, where his plan came apart. Our notoriously violent cops put an end to his run in my front yard. Nobody dead yet. As far as I know. Geez, I was in bed asleep when this all went down.

I'm a little amazed that you're doing the WTF bit. No kidding they don't want you added to the excitement. What, do you really think that want you outside in the mess? Of course they're going to yell at you to go back inside.

The WTF bit might come from the fact CWH posted this at 1:00 in the morning.

Reminds me of the time that I was picking up a friend for high school, when we saw the street lined with unmarked cars and SWAT team surrounding the house across the street. That was... exciting.

I have an inbred hillbilly family living across the street, basically a shack full of Deliverance rejects. Total welfare cases, all, without a pot or a window. This by itself does not bother me; some of the nicest people I've ever met were from mountain stock.
The problem here is that without health insurance, or any resources whatsoever, they have become acustomed to dialing 911 for every minor hangnail or scraped knee. Since they tend to stay up very late at night (likely due to their howling dogs), the 911 forces arrive at ungodly hours of the early morning.
One of the good things about Macon is that we have a real crackerjack Fire Dept. and Medical response team, both rated #1 on a national level. When a resident dials 911 and screams about an emergency (even if it's just a silly thing), you can expect an EMT unit, a fire engine, and a Sheriff, in your yard within 20 minutes, sirens blaring.
This went on for quite a while after this family moved in (about 2 years ago), until finally someone at a higher level looked over their 911 call record, and decided they were a nuisance address. Now, if there were to be a honest-to-Johnson murder over there, the 911 team would not respond. They are basically the Boy Who Cried Wolf, and now devoid of civil services.

Don't have that kind of problem in Ft.Lauderdale. Excellent fire rescue, emergency services. Some frankly bizarre neighbors, but they don't tax the services. I have had to call 911 a few times, excellent response every time. However, DO NOT PISS OFF A COP around here. Bad things will follow quickly. Taser city. Next is a Glock .40.
