So, woke up to -15f this morning. Sure the Speed3 was nice and happy because it was in a warm garage stall. BUT- when you drive down 494 and your trans starts becoming difficult to shift because the freakin FLUID is freezing while said vehicle is in motion, you know it's cold.

11 here this morning, and Mom with a dying bat. ... (an 05 Neon with OEM bat) I'm going to be gone later when she needs it, so to be safe I put the charger on it and she can turn it off and pull the leads when she's ready to go..
OK, I now have a great deal of respect for those of you who work on your cars in the winter up north. (...and am in awe of Keith's picture of working on the car outside.) I just came in from the garage, and was pretty close to thinking it was too cold to do anything today. It is up to 43 degrees....earlier I could see my breath.

40 isn't too bad on a bike. Not real comfortable, but not too bad. The first day out on Dr.Linda's new bike, with only 7K miles to get home, it was 40F and pouring down rain on Canada.
I once rode from Central Texas to the PRC, and it never got above 15F until I hit the California border. On a shovelhead, yet. That was a bit cold. I'd ride a while, stop and thaw out at the anti-freeze dispensary, ride some more. I could only make 500 miles a day.
I once changed out a starter on a MB 220D in Iowa at Christmas/New Years. I think it got up to 5F or so. That was some cold wrenchin'.
We had 2 inches of snow last night. Temps almost up to freezing today. Gonna be cold this week.
I took our baby girl out sledding yesterday, It was awesome. She loved the snow and the cold. Winter seems all right right now.

I got stuck riding my Seca 750 in ~45 degree temps with only a long sleeve shirt, jeans helmet and boots. I thought I was going to DIE. 
I used to love 40's and 50's when riding enduros, I have a Moose Racing Gore Tex jacket which was good to GO. Wonderful piece of cold weather gear engineering.
Aye carumba! Just got back from a trip waaaay up north. Passed through Timmins where Shania Twain was carrying the Olympic torch... with windchill it was -40. Ugh.
Only 25 here in central NJ... although the wind is brutal...
talking motorcycles... recall a few mornings going out and scraping ice off my seat... only thing exposed was my neck... a gator gaurd took care of that after a few weeks
the worst was still riding in the rain when it was high 30's out... my water proof gloves apparently soaked in the water though the seams somehow... COLD COLD COLD... but nothing compared to riding home on a bicycle in pouring rain in mid 30's weather in panama city in my teens... good times :)
supposed to get to 28 tonight... says it "feels like" 24 right now... not looking forward to this electric bill next month :(

What recipes have you tried? With an application of spices, it doesn't even have to taste like chicken!
Perfection snap continues in SoCal. 70 degrees with the occasional cloud. Wind is around 0 to 1 kts.
The first time I took my wife to California, we were heading for a track day at Thunderhill in April. As we sat in a snowstorm on Donner pass, she was furious. California was supposed to be sunny and warm - and it was snowing on her! She almost made me turn the truck around to go back to Colorado.
they're now predicting more snow for the area tomorrow and tomorrow night...berkeley

My hats off to you on that. It has been high twenties at the house and I keep putting off changing the oil in the wifes car. I think I'll have to man up tomorrow.

I remember one november about 12 years ago, I had borrowed my roomies bike to go to work as my tranny was on the ground next to my camaro, well it went from ~70* to around 40ish and started raining on me, when I got off at 1am it was a LONG 45 min ride home with slacks and a leather jacket, and no gloves. It was a maxim 650, I remember laying on the tank feet on the passenger pegs left hand holding onto the engine block and at stop lights putting both hands on the block....HOLY COW I will NEVER forget that, ALMOST as bad as falling through the ice on a lake.
WOW... supposed to rain/snow from about 2am-4am... right in the mid/low 30... then as soon as it clears up temps drop... supposed to be 14 at 7am... just in time to have kids going to school... right after the rain freezes and makes the roads scary...
i'm a bit terrified of what traffic is going to be like tomorrow doh lol... stays below freezing all day tomarrow... wow I thought I lived in FL...
Nah, that's South Alabama. Of course, here in Ft. Lauderdale, one weatherman announced the possibility of snow yesterday. Didn't happen. Just chilly and bright. Had to buy a space heater for wifey. That was an adventure. One solid hour of phone calls, finally found an Ace hardware on the other side of town that had a few left. They had recieved 90 heaters that day, had 8 left when I left.
Not too bad here (around freezing) but the South of the UK is about as well equipped for dealing with cold weather and snow as Florida. To add insult to injury, the central heating is broken so we don't have heating or hot water at the moment.
Strangely enough Delta had no problem rebooking my wife's flight back to the US from today to Saturday, something to do with airports at both ends being badly affected by snow (London Gatwick and Atlanta).
