    Why the pressure plate?

This thing going to have moving pistons, too?

think he included the pressure plate for when he wants to show off the trans by separating it from the engine. That is my assumption...

I'll stick to the non-scratch-built ones, I can barely do those.

If I had the talent to build that I'd make it 1:1 scale

I'd love to find a large scale, highly detailed kit to build. Anybody know of any that are currently in production?

The closest I can find to the size and level of detail are the HPI baja SS truck or buggy. But I'm not really interested in RC and they're a bit spendy.

Look for 1:12th scale Taimya F1 cars. Those will rock your world.

    HPIs are 1:5

    I'm afraid a 30cm long car wouldn't compare.

    1:8 would do however.

You're not going to find anything that scale worth doing that isn't Challenge Car priced, friend. Sorry.

Didn't someone do this with a Ferrari a few years ago?

He built a perfect running minature. All he had to do was find a real live pixie to drive it.

A quick google search isn't turning up any retailers?

    Links?

+1 for links. I'm dying to do a 1:12th F1 car. Like the Leyton House CG901

The Tamiya America site has them and an online store to boot. :)

I did find some 1:8 die cast exotics after a 10min search. I guess the Bajas aren't so spendy after all...

    here's the baja buggy

A running driving model for a bit better than a grand. The fun (for me) includes building the shocks and differential. Once it's made though...

A friend of mine is into Pochers http://www.scaleautoworks.com/PocherInfo.html He has several that cost more than my car.

Looks like the engine and trans are made on a prototyping copier. Resin glue mix? (Jurasic Park III, raptor thorax). It wont be a running copy. I did read somewhere someone is developing a prototype copier that would use powedered metal. I dont know how far they got. Nice detail.
