I always get to the yard just after they crushed what I was there for. Usually, it was sitting for months in a corner and completely untouched. If I went more regularly, this wouldn't be as much of an issue.

One local yard knows me fairly well. Been offered a job a couple of times. Never when I'm out of work, though, heh.

True that; a wasp or cricket nest can ruin your day. The dobbers will build a mud nest in any hole they can find, making parts cleanup even worse

    Also ants.. they get everywhere!

There must be something I don't know. I live where it gets cold.

Crickets? WTF is there to be worried about with crickets?

The places that don't sort foreign cars from domestic stuff. There will be a couple mercedes/bmw in hundreds of fords/gm's. What a pain dragging around 15lbs of tools around a large yard to find nothing.

last week i hit the yard in a small downpour, just enough wetness to keep the clowns away.

I also hate getting nickel and dimed. Given the prices are low/mid it is alright but having to pay core charges and environmental fees on a cheap part raises the cost quite a lot. What does the junkyard want a core for other than to get another 5$ out of you?

I hate that i cant take every tool i own with me and that they are all at least 15 miles away.

I've decided that instead of going to the junkyard i should just continuously buy and disassemble $0-300 parts cars, keep what i want, and then sell the scrap metal for most of the money back, all in the comfort of my driveway.

    So far its working fantastic!

I like this idea, as I do the same.............

Around these parts the yards are too computer controlled. You pull the part and take it to the counter and they find out what the dealership charges for a new one and charge a percentage of that. Around 60% for some stuff.

If you are lucky enough to find an old fashioned yard you have to deal with some illiterate, toothless cretin who will only grunt and spit out a "take it or leave it" number.

That is one reason I carry a hand gun in my tool kit. I have been accosted by rabid racoons before. Head shot for the win.

You're up E36 M3 creek if you somehow let them get a hold of that gun.

    Thank god.

Bugs freak me right out and I don't need something new to be worried about.
