OK, I took the dash of the datsun 810 apart this weekend. (You'll recall that it was the donor for my challenge entry.) That means I have lots of bits (vents, air ducts, glove box, etc.) that might be of use to other people. I'd like to sell them to recoup some of the money I've spent on other stuff.

What's the way to go? Should I use Craigslist, ebay, or something else? what are reasonable prices to ask for stuff like that? Should I do the same with tail lights, headlight surrounds, etc?

That car is is too obscure for Craigslist. You'll need the broader market of eBay.

Agree above on obscure and wider audience needed. The sort and search features of ebay will work better for you. In addition, with auctions your prices will only increase where as CL they will only decrease. This too will keep you from needing to know the market and which pieces are rare and highly desirable. Take the longest auction option given to maximize your exposure and ability to attract the most shoppers.

    Step 1: Find a Datsun 810 forum.

Step 2: Sign up and post a thread.

    Step 3: Profit!

    Ebay.

As much as Ebay sucks, its still the best venue for "I want to get what I can get or it hits the trash" sort of items. Just budget a LOT for shipping, its crazy these days.

Craigs is OK, but expect to be talked down, lowballed, time wasted, etc. Ebay gets rid of most of those issues.

If it's big and light, use UPS. If it's small and heavy, use USPS Flat Rate boxes. If it fits, it ships, up to 70 pounds.

Biggest problem with that is the min post requirement on most sites before you can post in their for sale section. I'm only 25 post away from being able to put my AMC parts on the AMC site.

Yeah, it's worth jumping through hoops to get a 'captive' audience.

I'm become a member of Fiero, Corvette, and Monte Carlo forums in my search for challenge parts.

As others have already stated. Forums are best followed by eBay. I wouldn't bother with CL on that particular vehicle. Stating obvious, but Paypal is a must..
