Starting every post with the phrase "in reply to...", especially when you are making the second post in a thread.

Can someone learn me on that, please?

(got my fireproof underoos on - anticipating a string of posts that start with "in reply to bludroptop...")

    In reply to bludroptop:

If you click the "reply" found at the bottom of a post rather than just typing a response in the box at the bottom of the thread, you get the above at the top of your new post.

Personally, I prefer to quote rather than reply, if there's several posts in between it keeps the thread of the conversation together.

I'd prefer the "in reply to". Quoting an entire post often takes up a whole lot more space especially those that don't trim their reply.

It doesn't happen here so often, but my pet peeve is when someone posts a big chunk of text and/or a dozen photos, then someone else comes along and quotes them only to say, "Nice pictures!" I just love scrolling through the same dozen pictures over and over again.

+1 to that. That's exactly what the "reply to" button should solve.

You want a REAL pet peeve? - mine is people that make promises and then forget about them. I get SO much of this from customers. Seems that for Caribbeans a promise is a vague statement of possible intent. (Rant over.)

What I hate? When someone quotes something, and changes a little bit, and then says "fixed that for ya". Very confusing whenyou are reading through a thread, and don't realize what the op was origionally saying. It was funny the first time, but now it's kinda old.

And while were at it the + eleventy billion thing is old to. Can't you just say I agree? Or just leave it alone completley? If it's a political conversation we all already know where everyones opinion will fall anyway. If it's liberal, so and so will agree and so and so won't, and if it's conservative it will go the other way. Do we really need five pages of essentially people saying the do or don't agree???

    I agree.

My peeve is the guys at work whispering. I don't give a damn if you tell a dirty joke, hell I might even find it funny.

[soapbox]I hate it when people sitting in traffic jams leave huge gaps between their car and the one in front of them. The reason is that they are often preventing others further back from being able to turn onto the road or continue through a green light. These folks sometimes prevent drivers from making a right turn off the gridlocked road and also block unused turn-only lanes. A three car lengths gap is huge. Put down the cheeseburger and pull-up a few feet.[/soapbox]

My "pet" peeve are neighbors with little rat dogs they keep outside barking all day & night.

It feels good to complain once in awhile, but I'm starting to feel like Andy Rooney; and I'm less than half his age.

    Cheers, Steven

My pet peeve is the guy behind me going into a 'roid rage because I left a few spaces between my car and the next one in the traffic jam.

Can't you see how important I am? I'm updating my twitter page from my toolberry.

This is basically the internet's knock knock joke. It doesn't inspire laughter or anything, but it registers nonetheless.

I prefer the regular quote function, but I only include the bits that I'm referring to.

The "Camaro SS review soon" thread in the general section right now is a perfect example. The disturbing mullet man in a speedo photo has been reposted six times, so far. Once was more than enough to sear that into my brain.

When responding to the person just ahead of you, I don't get it. But when RSVPing to a list of folks, it makes sense.

    Ahem..

    i.e.:

In response to ECMojo; it wasn't a joke.

    In response to AussieMG; Wrong!

In response to Stuart in Mn; I agree, my computer doesn't think that fast.

In response to Mr. Brown; I got nuttin'.

    In response to 914Driver; STFU!

See how much sense all of this makes. Now I'm ready to tackle that guy bashing big Government! If it wasn't for the Feds and the job I have, I'd NEVER have time to get on the Internet.
