Anyone know how they are sized compared to other brands? I usually wear a 10.5 - 11 wide depending on the brand, was debating a pair and thought I would ask.

I have some Prototipos. They seem to run true to size but pretty narrow. I wear a 9.5 in the Pilotis, Brooks, Mizuno, Vans, and a 10 in Asics and Puma.

Do you have a Rugged Wearhouse nearby? They have "blemish" Pilotis (mine had a crimp at the end of the lace, reg. $85) in different styles for $15-20, if nothing else you can try them on.

Pretty much any discount shoe or clothing place was carrying them for awhile, I know I saw some at TJ Max about a year ago.

    Nope sure don't guess they're a nc/sc chain.

They claim to run true to size (slightly larger than a Nike). They are also all D-widths, which I don't consider to be anywhere near narrow.

I have a pair of G16s, and they're too wide for me. I have to put two Dr. Scholes type insoles under the removable insole to be able to lace them tight enough to stay on my (admittedly narrow) foot. If you wear a wide, you'll probably be fine. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone B width or narrower.

I've got a pair , they also run true to size and are comfortably wide. Side note, but I initially found the soles too thick to heel-toe reliably (couldn't feel the pedal beneath my 5th metatarsal). Vans or Converse All Stars work a lot better IMO.

The width depends on the model and the shape of your foot. I have a pair of Spyders and they fit great, but my Mulholland IIs aren't so much. They're fine through the foot but squash my toes together (I sometimes wear a wide, but all my width is in the forefoot, and my toes are pretty square). If your feet are an upside down triangle like mine you might want to go up a half size in the more pointy-toed models.

Some great deals at Bargain Outfitters right now on various models too, ranging from $19 to $39 for high top nomex ones. I'm thinking about getting a pair myself just incase I ever need a pair for a Lemons team or something. I've never seen Nomex shoes that cheap. Send me an email if you want a code for an extra $5 off.

I have a pair, and I like them. FWIW, though, the two guys in my local autocross club who are skip barber instructors beat everybody while wearing ordinary sneakers.

You just want a pair so you will look cool shopping for sunglasses at Hot Topic.

They would need to be FIA or SFI certified to be legal - I don't see that mentioned.

Thanks for the input everyone, things blew up here on the homefront, so I didn't get to look at any of this yesterday. All good now.

Me too. I tried a pair of them, and ended up going back to vans for autox.

Love them, got them cheap off a link posted here for an online clearnce place. True to size, bit narrow, but so are my feet. I actually love them for heel-toe, becuase I use the side step method. I find the hard thin-ish sole gives me great feedback.

But if you have any kind of foot issues (I wrestled a case of plano fasciitis last year) they will aggravate it. They are terrible for walking and very hot in the summer.

for autocross, I prefer my wrestling shoes. The thin soles help with pedal placement (you have to get used to pushing the pedal harder than your brain wants you to though.), and the high top style, and full lacing helps keep your foot in place.

I've worn the same pair of Addidas Gazelles for 3 seasons of AX and HPDE. I've got a pair of Sparco hitops from karting, but the Gazelles feel better and are easier to heel-toe in. And they're a lot better for shagging cones.

Awhile back, I purchased a pair of 10-1/2 Piloti DTM-R nomex lined shoes from Pegasus Racing. They were too tight for my 10-1/2 wide feet, so I sent them back. I haven't been able to find any SFI 3.3/5 certified shoes in my size, so I'll likely wear a looser fitting size 11 for events where they're required.

For AX, I have been wearing my regular walking shoes. Other than my around the house moccasin shoes, I don't have a good thin soled shoe for AX. I'm tempted to try AX in the moccasins.

I usually wear brooks beast. I love them but at 130+ a pair they're kinda pricey. I had just seen piloti's at closeout prices lately so I was just debating on a pair to try them out, don't think I'll go that route for a main pair of shoe's as I stand for 9hrs plus a day.

Holy crap! That actually was the same link and you're right.

    You can't beat that price.

I bought a set of the Bondurant - baseball glove-looking piloti shoes and love them. I actually bought a second set for when these wear out. They are a little narrow so if you have the gout you're out of luck, but otherwise they fit true to size.

I've found them to be good driving shoes that are also comfortable enough to be used daily. Perfect for autocross, and good looking enough that you don't look like a giant dork if you wear them in public.

Thanks for the link. I bought a pair of size 11 for AX. They're perfect for the F500 car - pedals are close together and the shoes are narrow and easily slide past one another on the inside edges.

Thanks for the link. I recommended it to my brother, he was looking for it . And you're right, it's cheaper than the other store! thanks :)
