I love Grassroots cars, and gems like a Civic Hatch setup for STS or a ratty Spec Miata will always be on my wish list. That said however, I parked next to a black Bently GTC yesterday. The car has many faults; way too big for a 2-door convertible, way too heavy for anything considered "sporty", the wheels are so large I can't imagine the unsprung weight, the seats don't look like they offer much lateral support, complex systems would make it impossible to wrench on...the list goes on. It is in every way that I can think of the polar opposite of a 4th gen Civic. I should hate this massive, rolling tribute to the "haves". But I just can't.

It was so dead sexy! I mean, you can drop the top and cruise South Beach with 3 Playboy models and fit right in. You could hit the Autobahn and do 190+ with ease. You could rip up the 'Ring and post a time that would embarass many supercars. You can fit your golf clubs in the back, take the kids to school, get your kicks on Route 66...anything! And you would never tire of the amazing paint, the leather, the carpets, the power, the speed. Based on current depreciation, I can afford one in 81 years, so here's hoping!

you could probably afford one sooner than that, nobody buys those things used.

yeah, 1980's Bentleys are trading for about 25 grand...plus they made more Continental GT's (convertible or otherwise) than any model in Bentley's history...I will own one, one day.

I'm not much of an expensive or supercar kind of guy, but my secret dream marque has always been Astons - and not because of any James Bond wish. I've loved them for decades. When I was waiting for a bus in Castletown on the Isle of Man a couple of years ago, I happened upon a brand-new, jet-black DB9 parked on a side street - utterly gorgeous! Of course I'd have to win the lottery, which isn't very likely unless I start buying tickets, but that's my dream - probably a V8 Vantage.

my parents have one, and I do have to say that I am impressed by its power and handling for a car that size.

My mom bought it for $7000 with 62k miles on it in pristine condition (a 1997 model) about 3 years ago.

    It just looks.... evil.

And in my research, seems there was a "le Mans" version that made 612hp, w/ manual tranny. Eeek!

im not familiar with the Bentley GTC, but I spent almost a year with a 2004/5 Arnage(not mine, bene of my last job, now i cant even get decent optical..) temperamental at times, but OH So much fun, she squats down when you put the hammer down, with a wee bit of lag, then whoosh.....away you go and your at 130 before you blink twice to get the dust out of your eyes, and its rock steady.... id imagine the speed and gtc are even better...but for 245k plus, theyd better be... just dont let em sit for more than a week, even brand new, theyll suck a set of batterys dry in no time and then run like a diesel until theyre at full charge..
