So...how expensive is this transmission? I'm assuming an automatic as it was a promo vehicle.

Car-part lists transmissions from $2800 and up..
Further research shows Wholesale on them is probably in the $6000-6500 range for a normal one. I'm not sure if that conversion increases or decreases the value... I would imagine it may be hard to flip if that's what you are thinking, as a buyer may be hard to find.

So can a standard Cooper that hasn't had all the stiffness cut out. I put all four of the tires off my Mustang (255/50 17s) in our cooper and took them to the tire shop.

and didn't even have one in the front seat.

I'd be REALLY shy about buying one in less than top running condition. My experience is there is NO way to come out ahead once you start fixing one.

    8K for a speed3? that's a steal...if you can do the work yourself...which I cannot.

the automatics are expensive and will go out again in the near future. do a manual swap and LOVE it.

I want a manual swapped MINI pickup...and I have wanted one for a long time.

    In reply to Maroon92:

neither can i, in my own garage, but if we're pretending we can and weighing n/a cooper pickup hack that needs a manual swap vs. a mazdaspeed3 that needs a motor that i don't have to track down.

And he's about to pay through the roof to put that motor in a slower car... with a questionable dif.... seems legit.

I looked at one of those Red Bull MINIs and there is no pickup bed that I could see. It looked like they had cut off the roof and replaced it with an L-shaped cap that forms the back of the cab and the tonneau. The bottom of the stock hatch is still in place as a tailgate, but I don't know how it functions.I think you would essentially have a trunk that stetches up to the first row seating.

I'm pretty sure I saw that sell at the repocast auction awhile ago for about half that price (it was still decked out in RB stuff but I remember a bad trans).

maybe you could fit it with a cabriolet's reverse opening trunk to get a working gate for that bed.. but you will still need to finish it off

If it has one of those constant velosity transmissions (or what ever they call it) keep walking. The manuals and the automatics (with flappy paddles) are good but they had a lot of issues with the other one.

My buddy was given one of RedBull's mini cooper trucks by RedBull themselves. He made a truck bed for it, it's BA.

I have an ex-red bull mini that's been converted to a pickup. Complete with snow tires and roof rack. Its for sale, just testing the waters. Message me for more info.
