I'm working on getting my astro van ready to sell, it's a 98 with more than a few miles, but apparently the windows didn't seal well at one point, and the interior has quite the funk going for it when it's been sitting closed up for more than a few days at a time. So I was thinking of yanking all the carpet from the drivers seats back and putting rhino liner or roll on truck bed liner down. Any comments or thoughts? How horribly do you guys think this will effect the resale value of the van?

I think if you can find a gray that matches the rest of the interior you should be fine. If you do black you are pretty much selling to the work van set, and the poor work van set at that, and the price will suffer.

pull the carpet and pressure wash/harsh chemical cleaner it. Maybe pull off the padding. That should get rid of any mildew and mold. I've replaced the carpet in a caravan with commercial-grade carpet, and it was surprisingly easy. The flat floor made tracing out the old stuff easy, and there was no tunnel to make for strange contours.

Rhino line it, and when it comes time to ditch it, make sure it's fully insured and get it stolen.

If you mean real rhino lining, it would be like $600 or so do do the inside of the van wouldnt it?

I used Huerculiner in the tub of my Jeep. ~$100 kit and it came with everything you need.

I considered doing the back of my van as well after I spilled a couple of gallons of hydraulic fluid in the carpet, but I was able to salvage it with the pressure washer and simple green.
