i can't say what you should do, but if this project is like any of your previous projects, i'll go ahead and say what you will do:

    • remove lots of stuff
    • buy some parts (but not enough to complete the job)
    • give up

I just bought an 89 with a 5.3L LM7 and a T56. Ridiculously fast, and a complete sleeper since it is completely stock on the outside. The only problem is getting traction in any gear lower than 4th.

I bought it to yank the engine/trans for another project, but its so much fun I might keep it as-is.

angry... good times :)... but I only ever did that with the mr2... and I think I came out on top $$$ wise if I don't figure in labor ;-)... I never bought any parts for the shelby... er I did get an oil pressure sensor for her)... stupid move from MI to FL = traded for a running car (that I still have and hate lol)... I was looking at my build thread on the shelby yesterday... Man I wish i could have even gotten her truly drivable

I've always wanted to see the 3800 series II supercharged in a RWD application. I have my suspicions that the camaro v6 trans would work, and from there, it should be fairly close to any other GM swap.

the 4-cyl 98 S-10 2wd transmission actually is the one you want

until it shreds the 4cyl transmission, I lost a pair of m50's in my 00 2.2L, seemed routine at 35k miles.....lol

I would recommend the NV2500 out of the 4.3L 5sp, good tranny, survived my abuse in my 98......and that was making a decent amount of power too....

the 4cyl is a direct bolt in...

I thought the 4.3 used a NV3500? that's what my 95 had, maybe changed in later years?

idk, maybe it was nv3500.....its been 8 years since I touched an s10......so does that make me sober for 8 years?

I couldn't imagine the 2200sfi having the same bellhousing pattern as the 3800's....i figured it would be the same as the 4.3L

Ive read that elsewhere too, essentially the FWD 3.8 bolts sideways to the 4cl (2.2) trans.kinda makes sense since the 2.2 was in cavaliers all over the place, and that block was the same block as the S10 2.2. And the cavalier trans was the same trans in pontiacs.

And when you do all that, you get supercharger noises!
