I never even knew this car existed until I saw one yesterday:

OK, it's just a Pontiac version of the Aveo, but I never knew there was a G3. How could Pontiac have failed with gems like that?!?!?

    (that sarcasm BTW)

I think the G3 were the last cars to leave Pontiac lots and I think there were some good deals to be had (if a G3/Aveo was what you really wanted.)

I work with a mechanic that worked for a Chevy dealer when the Aveos came out. He has some pretty funny stories about how horrible they were and some of the warranty work they did. They had one that had some sort of short in the steering column and after a 15 minute drive the key blade would be so hot that it would almost burn you if you put the keys in your pocket.

Pretty sure that's a Canada exclusive like the Firefly was.

No, not just Canadian. Near the end, Pontiac was given the G3/Aveo in a move of classic badge engineering as a way to try to broaden the line up and increase sales.
Lets also not forget that other genius of badge engineering, the Torrent (nay: Equinox)

I saw a Pontiac G5 at Road America in 2007. I had no idea that they made a rebadged Cobalt, but I liked it. Then I found out it was Canada only...at the time.

G5 was sold in the US as a two door only but sold in Canada as a 4 door as well.
The Chevy Corsica 4 door was sold as the Tempest in Canada.

There were 07 G5s in the US. Local dealer had a lot full of them when he went under.

Yep, I saw a few G3s wandering around. They were similar to the T1000 Pontiac sold when the Chevette was around.

i'm a few hundred miles from the Canadian border, but this stretch of I94 is a main conduit to the center part of the US from Winnepeg..

anyways, i saw one of those going down the interstate a few years ago.. i was just cruising along and saw a Corsica up ahead.. didn't really think much of it until i saw the Pontiac badge and the word "Tempest" on the trunk..figured someone was just being silly with some badges he had laying around until i saw the grille in my mirror.. then i started wondering if Pontiac ever had a version of the Beretta, but never actually looked into it too hard. but now that i think of it, a Pontiac Beretta would have been kinda cool..

No Pontiac version of the Beretta, only Corsica.
