Unfortunately, I've met and known people whom I could prove 1+1=2, yet they still would not believe in the data or facts, and would not sway from those beliefs for anything.

Ultimately, that is probably the most paralyzing of all.

What would make you think that there is a point in asking this question? Is it not an act of faith that there are other human beings responding to your inquiry? Could it not just as easily all be a result of a drug induced delusion you are having, or a bad reaction to some spoiled blue cheese?

And if other humans were to respond to your question, would they not be imperfect and so their responses similarly imperfect? What is the point of ever asking any question ever? How do you know gravity will work tomorrow? What if we all fly off into space? Should we consider strapping ourselves to the ground? It's certainly possible as we have determined that nothing can ever be known.

Sorry man, whatever that thing you quoted was, it's the most misguided psudo-logic I've read in a long while.

Is it accurate to say that skepticism is to not take anything on faith? Then, it would seem that skepticism is self-paralyzing, if nothing else.

Out of curiosity, what do you think of this?

Chesterson? Seriously? Dude, you might as well quote Pascal or Aquinas. Ancient ideas from ancient minds. Some folks just don't care about that stuff anymore.

Skepticism also is not contrary to faith. As a Bishop friend of mine liked to say, "Trust in God, but tie up your camel."
