  I was running in the Bolder Boulder, a 10k run that's kinda like a big street party, and one guy was serenading the runners from his front lawn with a drum kit. He ignored my FREEEEE BIRD! request. Stupid hippie. My wife also tried to lose herself in the crowd around the same time for some reason.

  I feel sorry for bands that get that One Big Hit that they have to play at every show. Not just Skynrd and Freebird - they've got a pretty deep collection of hits - but people like BNL who have to play "if I had a million dollars" and Moxy Fruvous (non-Canadians go "who?") who have to play Green Eggs and Ham. BNL first recorded "Million dollars" back in what, 1991 or so for their indie demo tape. Moxy never actually released a recording of Green Eggs and Ham other than on their indie demo tape. At least both bands are the sort to play with a song instead of just duplicating it.

  I am totally going to, umm, request Freebird at the next Sarah McLaughlin concert.

  "Whiskey bottles and brand new cars....."

  I always loved that song.

  Can't say the same for "Freebird". A friend of mine in HS used that as his personal theme song...while he was on the hunt for some "trim".Ruined the song for me.

  That....and that whole "Freebird/Love your Way" 80's one hit blunder hybrid song.

  We are in Florida, home of the drawn out guitar solo. The Allman Brothers are from down here remember?

  The difference being that those dudes could/can PLAY.

  Speaking of the Filmore, Humble Pie's "Performance Rockin' the Filmore" is an outstanding live recording.

  Doode, if it's a drummer sitting there, you have to shout:

  "Inna Gadda Da Vida"

  I saw Foghat a couple years ago. The band really should have been called "One of The Base Players from Foghat and 3 Other Guys Playing Foghat Tunes," but somehow they just called the band "Foghat." Anyway, I guess it's pretty good if your whole band can die on you and you can still get paid for a free concert at the Chicken Festival in Springdale, Arkansas.

  I don't know if I saw a video of it or if it was on a live album, but I remember this about Ray Wylie Hubbard. Country aficionados might recognize the name; he wrote Jerry Jeff Walker's "Redneck Mother". Ray was introducing the song saying if I'd known what this song would have meant for every concert that I performed from that point on, I think I probably would have thought twice about ever releasing it. And then every month, I get a nice check, and I think, aw heck, I can play this every night for the rest of my life.

  bought the original album with the flam e around the band ,,, my brother seen them a couple of shows before the incident . Also worked with a guy that roadied for 38 special and seen them in homestead at a bar when a nascrap event was happening 1998 ish . I hate to say it I hate the song freebird . >>>>>>>>>>> Greetings from GRM central Daytona stopped by the shop over here on the beach .

  If I'd asked for Inna Gadda Da Vida, I would have had time to finish the 10k and then come back to see how he was doing

  It's a fine line between a cover band and a "continuation" band with one original member. Hmm, why am I thinking of Carrol Shelby?

  You mean like the stones and "(can't get no)Satisfaction"?

  Skynard was at the Borgata last week. Not a bad bunch of guys to work for. Very professional yet laid back

  I got real burned out on Skynrd a long time ago. But speaking of bands that have fallen: I saw Uriah Heep at the Coliseum in Columbia, SC in the mid 70's. Probably 8-10k people there.

  About ten years later they came back through town and played a place called Strider's Concert Hall which held maybe 200 people and it wasn't even half full.

  I saw Skynrd in the 90's it was OK, But the worst tragedy to hit music is Alice in chains without Layne Staley. It is the worst E36 M3 I have ever seen in my life. Jerry Cantrell should be choked out and punched in the junk over and over again.

  I saw Moxie Fruvous in Columbus in the 1990s with a local a capella band named Throat Culture.

  Somehow I think that having to play "One Week" every day pisses them off about a billion times more than "If I Had a Million Dollars".

  But they'd been playing Million Dollars for 7 years before they came out with One Week!
