    True, and I agree wholeheartedly if this were to happen enough times the rest of the pirates would eventually get the message that maybe it's not worth it.

    But if it were a US warship and personnel that did this, the news media in this country (not to mention the rest of the planet) would be screaming about how the Great Satan was blowing up fishing boats belonging to poor innocent Somalis who were carrying AK's for protection.

    I think the distinction is that the Somalis are directly seeking a financial gain. I've been misinformed before though.

    Either way they should have shot them. A vague radio call like the Coasties do in South Florida should have been all that was heard of this incident. "We're expending live rounds" is always fun to hear on the radio anyway.
