Saw a very rare Miata today.

    There were two occupants.

They were of the opposite sex!

Wow! Your wit is astounding! I haven't heard a joke that so accurately summed up a Miata in two, maybe three minutes!

Wait, do you mean two girls (as in opposite from you), or a man and a woman (as in opposites from each other)?

    I mean a man and a woman!

And Joey, it actually IS a rare sighting in my town.

It's always a guy by himself with a hard-dog rollbar and SCCA decals, a chick or a highschool senior and her girlfriend.

It was a bone-stock, red miata today with a middle aged guy driving and what I assumed to be his wife in the passengers seat. I thought "Hmm, don't see that much" because around here you don't.

Oh, yeah, and if you venture further into Vancouver it's two dudes with a rainbow sticker.

It was one of those two dudes taking his sister somewhere.

Considering so many folks call the Miata a "chick car", I rarely see a woman in the driver's or passenger's seat. Seems that all I ever see is single guys.

My ex had a love-hate relationship with my Miata. She called it the "Whore". The whore did something to her once when we were driving to Lime Rock last summer: it bucked while we were crawling at idle in first gear as the idle air controller tried to decide whether or not it should be on. Low gearing and an AC compressor dragging on the engine made it buck pretty hard. Right as she was taking a drink of her cranberry juice.

Every time she approached the car after that, it was always "hello Whore ".

She rode around in it a lot with me though. Even though it didn't have a radio.

Friend of mine is often spotted in his Miata. Hard Dog bar, CS exhaust, rare-ish mazdaspeed racing seats... and pink harnesses and rollbar foam. See him and his wife in it all the time.

Weird. Here in SW Ohio the most common driver is a male, 40 to about 120 years of age. The passenger seat is either empty or holds a similar aged female.

They also tend to be very stock, with no roll bars or body kits or 77" riiiiimzzzzzzzz.

We were up fishing by Hell's Canyon this last weekend and the fiance tells me hey look over there at all those cars what are they? I look over and see about a dozen or so Miatas all in a line pulling out of an RV camping area heading up into the canyon.

There was a strange sight with my miata last night.

Me lifting the engine straight out.

Crank nose woodriff keys and oil pressure issues suck.

On the plus I located a engine at a junkyard that only had 26k miles on it (for only $675)

OK, there's a rarity. Did you find the engine in a different car, or actually find a Miata in that junk yard? I think Keith and FM buy all the crashed and unwanted Miatae in the United States and bank off of them.

better not tell them there is a complete miata in the junkyard in front of my apt in newton on hwy 70! and the gayest/ugliest miata I've ever seen for sale up front (red paint, with silver lightning bolt-esque stripes all over and the lamest hood scoop I've ever seen. and I don't mean gay as in homosexual, nor as a synonym for exuberant. just as a bad thing.

The car was long gone, the engine had been sitting on a shelf for years.

I found it through car-part, they didnt put any details (like mileage or condition) in the ad, I called and asked. From what I gather, they priced it well because they wanted it gone. (poor advertising on their part = my win)

I saw a few miate a few months back at crazy rays downstate (maryland)

The new fun is that my torque wrench seems to have crapped out. so I gotta hold off on the clutch/flywheel till i get that resolved.

My girlfriend loves my Miata. She named it Dorsi and says hello to it every morning on her way to get in the Prius.

Yesterday I saw two ancient couples in Miatas though, one of the guys said "Thanks brother!" when I let him cut the line in traffic in front of me. That was odd.

My dad has a Miata (mid-life crisis). Whenever I'm home, I steal the keys and just drive around aimlessly for a while. Girls who would normally never give me the time of day have literally yelled out of their windows to me. If that's a girl car, it must mean that girls love them and love guys that drive them.

I had a woman yell "Nice Miata!" at me and I just about broke my neck turning to see who yelled it. Not used to that.

I have a woman in mine as often as my wife will submit to the (admitted) torture that it entails. No carpet, loud exhaust, lowered (harder to get in and out of as one ages), and no soft top to drop, which previous Miatae that I owned all had. Still, it's generally just big ole me in the car (made to look even bigger when I stand beside it, or unfold from within).

I'm allowed to make fun of Miatas.

I have a Midget in my stable.
