That's pretty good, but I'll go for Side Three of The Who's "Quadrophenia".

    1.) 5:15
    2.) Sea and Sand
    3.) Drowned
    4.) Bellboy

Power chord heaven, even if you're "..always running after someone's bleeding ills..."

    Clash- London Calling:

    • "London Calling"
    • "Brand New Cadillac"
    • "Jimmy Jazz"
    • "Hateful"
    • "Rudie Can't Fail"

Side two is phenomenal, too, with Spanish Bombs, Guns of Brixton, Lost in the Supermarket and Clampdown.

Sorry, but "Just Got Paid" is the best ZZ Top song ever, so although that is a good album side, it can't be the best ever if it's missing their best song ever. Even if it was up against an album side of "Just Got Paid" and five different renditions of "The Chicken Dance", it would be a wash.

Good question. I don't know the answer. It just strikes me that the whole idea of an album side is such a relic from the past. My kids will know what that means 'cause I have 400 or so records, but how many people are alive today who couldn't answer the question because they've never listened to an album or cassette?

Whats an album side? But seriously, Cake's album Fashion Nugget has a lot of good car songs on it.

I'm not even a huge Led Zeppelin fan, yet I admit that's a tough lineup to top.

Dinosaurs, all of you Albums don't have "sides", and haven't since the advent of the auto-reverse tape deck. What was that, 30 years ago?

I've always felt Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms" and U2s "Joshua Tree" were two of the most complete albums ever. Both were released on CD when new, so they don't have sides

About formats - from what I remember, the LP, cassette and CD versions of "Your Latest Trick" on Brothers in Arms was different, and my brain is telling me it was because of time limitations. Am I making that up?

edit - nope, not according to Wikipedia.

Yeah, Side 1 of London Calling is pretty much hewn from living awesome. But I think the nod still has to go to Side 1 of Zeppelin IV.

I started looking at Sabbath albums in response to this thread as anything post CD-era doesn't make sense Lots of great songs with early Sabbath, but no great sides. I gots nothing.

    .....

Until I pull out Iron Maiden's Powerslave. Doesn't matter which side of that cassette (vinyl, shminyl) you play first, it friggin' rocks.

"Aces High" (Steve Harris) – 4:32 "2 Minutes to Midnight" (Bruce Dickinson, Adrian Smith) – 6:04 "Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)" (Instrumental) (Harris) – 4:15 "Flash of the Blade" (Dickinson) – 4:06 "The Duellists" (Harris) – 6:07 "Back in the Village" (Dickinson, Smith) – 5:03 (5:20 on the 1998 re-release) "Powerslave" (Dickinson) – 7:11 (6:46 on the 1998 re-release) "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" (Harris) – 13:39

    /thread.

I'll pardon the DPs , but only because there's some great drivers in `em. I still think they're as ugly as an Aztec.
