Stupid question regarding a "free" car

Without writing a books worth of pointless back story.

How stupid am I for thinking of turning down the offer a free 2g turbo AWD DSM because I'm not sure it's something I actually want, and it's possibly "too rusty to pass New York inspection".

Go for it. Worst case, you'd make a killing off parts.

If owner won't be offended, make a few hundred quick bucks, if they would then split it with them

(The dude's seen what's happened with the rest of my cars, no idea why he thinks I'm a good home, gullible chump seems more reasonable)

The reason I put free in quotation marks is because it's in New York and I'm in Kentucky.

DSM AWD auto trans is what all the drag racers are using

Different scenario if it runs. Pull the engine and transmission and stick it in a Hyundai. The first generation DSM's and first generation Hyundai Excels shared a common block. The second gen DSM's and Hyundai's didn't change that much. Looking here the Sonata of similar vintage used the same motor. Would be even more silly/fun if you figure out how to graft over the AWD.....

Regardless, a free car (even with gas to get it) is hard to pass up.
