1985 Alfa GTV6

Alfa Romeo GTV6 project - $3000 (Denver) Date: 2009-11-02, 3:04PM MST

Lack of space, time, and funds, makes it necessary to thin my collection so these need to go. 85 gtv6, hit on LR corner, typical rust, bad interior, very good mechanicals, (when last run), glass all good, electricals all work. 85 gtv6, minor rust and dings, faded paint, interior fair to good, 1head gasket leaks, very good trans, brakes and electrical. 15+ yr collection of parts. With a bit of tlc this would make 1 very nice car, w/ a load of spares! These cars are becoming rather rare, here's a chance to pick a cool winter project for not much dough. Okay, which one of you guys posted this as a joke? By the seller's admission, it's got "typical" rust, the interior is shot, a head gasket is leaking, and it sounds as though it's been setting for a while. And based on that photo, the "15 year collection of parts" had better include a straight shell. However, I'll go out on a limb and guess that it's probably a 15 year collection of pull off parts.

Yea, that gtv6 is nasty. Id say for anything under $800 it would be a good deal, but you can get a straight one for $1200.

OK, the $3000 may still be a bit rich, but the way I read it he's offering two Alfas, a hit one with a good drivetrain and crappy interior, and a straight (minor rust and dings) one with bad mechanicals and meh interior, so you can combine them into one decent car.

I'm not sure I want to know what qualifies as typical minor rust on a mid-'80s Alfa, though.

Don't know about the price, but that NSX is impressive. It even still looks pretty nice in the photos. If that isn't the highest-mileage "supercar" ever it's gotta be close; don't think a Lambo or a Ferrari would last that long.

Is anyone nearby? I'm mad curious as to how it looks in person.

Fortunately for my wallet I'm far enough away from that NSX. However the comment re the $15k price tag makes me wonder how much you'd end up paying for one in decent condition with reasonable mileage, say, 100k?

Not that I'd be considering to buy one, oh no.

Ahh, good point. I made the assumption that the seller cut and pasted text for the ad, and was describing the same car twice with slightly different wording, and supported this assumption with the one picture he posted.

I cannot imagine anybody driving a car like an NSX more than 10K per year. That is NOT a DD. That is a precious toy you put away for special times. Am I wrong here? Drive the BMW to work, to the market, take the NSX to the nice restaurant with your honey on Saturday night. I guess I'm just old.

Why not? How many of them did they make? And you bought it, you might as well enjoy it everyday.
We have a "precious toy" as you put it. Its pretty boring to anybody else, but its our baby. An E30 vert'. It gets daily driven if its not raining. Although if there is salt, it never will touch the road.

Heck 15k for that NSX? You can find great early-model examples with WAY fewer miles for little more all day.

Hell, if I had one I'd drive it every day! It's a car, it's supposed to be driven. I drive my Lotus every day but it's hardly an "exotic."
I remember watching a Jay Leno video a while back where he mentioned he dailyed his Lamborghini Countach. If you've got it, use it.
