Was that in a Sunday Paper? I would think that only we here would understand that type of joke.

The Asheville paper doesn't carry the FRAZZ comic ( Charlotte does ) but the comics are about the only thing that the Asheville paper does that's worth a crap... the Monday edition is ~ 10 pages, most of which is ads .... ( that's 10 pages in 3 sections... I've seen weekly's that had more content

As the owner of a fine example of one of said British roadsters, which has been sitting in a garage for over three months now, I take offense offense at that. Oh no, wait, I don't, I meant to say I laughed.

I've been big into online comics since like 1998 or so... And since then I really can't be bothered with what gets put in the newspaper anymore. One or two of them like the above occasionally have something interesting to say or can solicit a laugh but the signal to noise ratio is abysmal. So much re-hashed tripe that should have ended years ago...

Sure, 99% of online comics are rubbish too, but the good ones are often genuinely brilliant and since they don't have to pass the newspaper's "blandness censor" they can be a lot more complex and engaging than anything that manages to make it onto newsprint.

The guy who draws that strip (Jef Mallett) is my neighbor. I was surprised when I read it this morning because he really isn't much of a car guy.

You were probably his inspiration then. Nice. :D

I spend an unreasonable amount of time reading the funnies. Frazz is on my list every day.

Big Nate can be good, too.

I always read the comics and get a chuckle out of them. This morning I read FRAZZ and started laughing out loud. Wife thought something was wrong with me, but then she never reads the comics.

not even the draw of the comics is enough for me to get the paper anymore

Tell him that if his taste in music is anything like Frazz's (Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, etc.) that he is awesome.

That's particularly surprising because the version in my paper today included the strip title in an MG octagon.

His style of drawing appears to be VERY inspired by early Calvin and Hobbes. The strip in the OP is pretty damn good, though.

"Zits" is one that's still really good really often.

I have always enjoyed reading the comics. Some even make me laugh. I still look forward to them.

Often, the paper is the only place that you can get the full story. ( non comics).

Just another reason why I'm glad my TVR has a fixed roof.

gocomics.com has a bunch of the comics online, works for me since I don't get the paper.

I quit reading the comics when Calvin and Hobbes went away. I miss Zits sometimes, but that's online when I need a fix.

I remember when my cracker-assed cracker community paper started carrying Boondocks. Then I think someone bothered to read one strip. Poof-gone.

It's been down hill since Gary Larson retired.
