Color me jealous. I finally tried synthetic in one of my Corrados last year...and was amazed to see how low my oil/water temps fell. I'm addicted to the stuff now.

I saw that and thought, "Your grouping must have been larger than normal."

one of the local Mills Fleet Farms did that a couple of years ago- but it wasn't a mistake. they had a whole big pallet of Mibil1 10w30 oil with clearance tags on it for $8 for a 5 quart jug.. i only had $10 on me so i only got one. went home (25 miles away) and grabbed a $100 bill and went right back to stock up. there were only 2 left, so i got them.. on a different day, i got a set of Flowmaster 40 series delta flows for my Monte Carlo for $40 a piece because they stopped carrying them and wanted the shelf space for Cherry Bomb glasspacks. another time, i picked up a decent 1000 pound Larin 4 leg engine stand for $45. i got a Dewalt sawzall (yeah, i know sawzall is a name brand, but you know what i mean...) with a case and a nice 20 foot extension cord for $85 there the same day i got the engine stand. i love that store...

for most general automotive needs, i like a place called Mills Fleet Farm. they have almost everything you need for anything. need some grade 8 bolts to put your suspension back together? go there and buy them for $2.79 a pound. i spent about $10 for every front suspension and body bolt on my old 71 Nova.

Tractor Supply Company, same deal. LOVE IT.

Except the one near me apparently thinks it's 1953, and the metric system is an insidious communist plot. Are they all like that?

the metric system is an insidious communist plot meant to confuse and divide Anericans.. Mills does have metric fasteners- they just cost twice as much.

Same deal with TSC. They don't sell the Metric stuff in bulk, but they DO have a pretty good selection. But yes, it is more expensive.

Personally, i just try to use 1/2" bolts everywhere i can so i can be cool and use a 13mm ratchet/wrench.

I noticed that my local Wal Mart, which is near a few upscale neighborhoods, carries nothing for an ATV owner at all. However, the Wal Mart near my relatives house out in the woods has an entire aisle of ATV stuff. Stores adjust their inventory to meet local demographics.

That said, Target is where I go to decorate my daughter's room.

Tractor Supply, Northern Tool, and Harbor Freight are my favorite stores. Two of them,NT and HF, are with in 5 minutes of my office. The other is on the way to my parents house. WalMart locally carries oil and filters but that's it other than detailing supplies. Target is just worthless unless you need a new toaster. It's the yuppie WalMart. It doesn't work as well, but at least the Jones will understand you shopping there.

If you want auto parts around here either Parks or Napa, and Parks is open till midnight. O' I don't stock it Riley's is a wasted trip I don't think they have ever had a part I needed in stock. Advance is great if you need a set of neons and some chromed plastic hub caps. Auto Zoned Out is fair most of the time, but there isn't one near me. I would rather pay more at the local Napa or Parks.

I only go to Target for dog food, Prilosec, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. They have the worst auto and hardware section. But their antifreeze is cheaper and most others.

y'all have a choice in the District we have Tarjhay and that's it. I think the nearest Wally is 25 miles and six hours of gridlock away in MoCo.

I went to HF today at lunch time. The timing light was on sale for $12.99.

I got a timing light and lunch at Arby's for under a $20.

Of course, I did have to restrain myself or I would have spent $100+. That is the danger of HF.

My long weekend is now planned. Megasquirt PnP, LC-1...and then maybe the JR M45.

I don't have a TSC or similar store anywhere near me, but I've got 10+ parts stores within 10 miles, 2 are very good independants and 1 is a Napa with a big performace section. HF is just down the street.

i'm sure you've got something in the area similar to Mills or Tractor Supply.. where do all the farmers in the area go when they need to fix their equipment and don't want to pay John Deere or IH prices for stuff?
