Ashley and I both really enjoyed it. I thought it was surprisingly well acted, and I particularly enjoyed the way the narration, though primarily Rorschach's, jumped around with the other characters; it prevented monotony and felt like chapters in a book. Visually great, and it didn't feel like a big Hollywood film, though it certainly had the budget. I loved the ending, and based on what JG and I talked about afterwards it was a very wise decision on the director's part.

Rorschach did get all the great lines. Manhattan was wonderful, eerie and otherworldly. And I thought the sex scene was a riot, flamethrower and all.

While I can see that Rorschach has that certain Wolverine-esque appeal I didn't really dig his character much in the book. He was definitely the star of the movie opposite Nite Owl. The Comedian and Dr Manhattan were very well portrayed.

I'll probably catch the movie today. In the book I actually didn't care for Rorschach until the very end. He was too sociopathic for me to identify with or idolize. But the very end of the story, when he rips off his mask screaming... that's when I was able to really appreciate him. And I think it worked better to not be able to like him at first, have him slowly start to grow on me, and suddenly become someone I could care about right before the story ended.
