Everyone know's that the movies aren't "correct" to the way things should happen or the best way to do things. The people in charge know that now so they just come up with ridiculous plots and make tons of money off of it.

v8 interceptor is a reference to the car used in mad max. Hes calling it mad max due to the guys driving along stealing fuel.
