Seems like Eric Bana would be a big consideration for a number of reasons.

Did you ever hear how they filmed the shots of goose blasting down the highway (just before he crashes I believe). They put a guy on the back of the bike with a handheld! If you look at the speedometer he is going well over 100 mph I believe! That sort of shooting is what made the original so good, hopefully they will at least keep that spirit.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I think this is the video, but I can't test the link at work): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lwacyd9cqhQ

If they put any CGI in the new film, it will likely kill it.

Yeah, the original was filmed before the safety Nazis started trying to save us all from ourselves.

I hope Miller can recapture the feel of the original film. And yes Eric Bana would be an excellent choice. He even owns an XB Falcon which is the subject of a film he directed. http://www.tribecafilm.com/filmguide/Love_the_Beast.html It seems he crunched it bad back in 2007 and is bringing it back to life.

I had no idea they used real bikers in the film.

Here's a link I found after doing some resesarch into the Vigilantes.

    thanks for the info aircooled.

The blue Mazda van that gets nailed so spectacularly in the opening of the first movie was Miller's personal vehicle. Talk about low budget and getting it right the first time!

I remain largely pessimistic about this film's chances of not sucking. But then I rarely like sequels and usually hate remakes.

If you look carefully at that wreck (I think that is the one) you will also notice a flame coming out of the back of the car that hits the van... they had strapped a rocket to the car!!!

The Nightrider manages to avoid his MFP pursuers pretty well, until he comes across Max, and then it's all over for him. In the scene where the car crashes out, the engine has actually been removed from the car, and it is being propelled by a solid fuel rocket - there's no sped up film here, the car is really going that fast, and with good reason! If you look at the film you can see the exhaust plume from the rocket, and you can also see that there are no passengers in the car.

I love watching the back end of the car hop around in that sequence.

I'm chanting, but...the first two movies (as much as I like them) do suffer from scenes with undercranked film. Road Warrior is the worst offender of the two. Not CGI, but the equally annoying precursor to it.

I'm all for a new movie, if it's done well. Sadly, however, I predict the destruction of many nice, old cars.

...most of whom don't actually drive them. Or give a crap about seeing anything.
