    The Fast and the Curious

    My favorites from the series:

"Granny shifting not double clutching like you should."

"Whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning."

"What does DK stand for, Donkey Kong."

"So are you like the Justin Timberlake of Japan or something?"

"It's not about the ride, it's the rider."

As you can see, I think the 1st and 3rd were the best for quotable moments.

I can live with almost all the cheesey shlock from the FF movies, but if I ever meet the sound engineer that added in the rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift/rev/shift while driving under a flat deck semi, I'm gonna beat him with a shovel. I watched the first one, haven't watched any others. When I want my car earporn, I throw Gumball Rally in and listen to it.

I have learned I cant detail a car with the car cover still on, that sr20s are still pulling a premium, and Ted has my engine in the warehouse...

2Fast 2Furious had the best lines

Roman: "Look at you lookin' all Miami with that fancy shirt and yo hamburger meat (referring to goatee)"

Brian: "What's the best engine to put in my Skyline a Gallo 12 or a Gallo 16?" Rookie Cop: "16" Brian: "I didnt know pizza places made engines"

Asian mechanic: "where'd you all get a EeeeeVO?"

"Pockets ain't empty, cuz... and we ain't hongry no mo' either"

There really has already been 4 fast and furious(er) movies?

The first one I'd stop flipping channels if it were on TV. Was the 2nd one where they jumped a car onto a yacht? Pass on that one - it is a Miami Vice ripoff. The drifitng one - I don't really remember much about it other than the drifting up the parking garage ramp. I'd skip this one too. The 4th one? Is that the one where they rave across the desert at like 400 mph and enter a system of secret cave mazes? That was about as much fun as that Speed Racer movie. I would only ever watch that one again if I were strapped down to a table with my eyes pinned open and a TV in front of my face.

Not looking forward to another one. Although, I have to admit, I sometimes watch a movie with the Rock.

Don't own any of these and I try to not intentionally quote them unless in a sarcastic tone.

The 3rd one, Tokyo Drift is the only one that REALLY appeals to me on a level where i watch it for a reason OTHER than to make fun of it through the entire thing.

Car porn, nice sounds, and the camera work is actually decent. The music was better, and Han was a cooooooool dude.

Yeah, all of the drifts in Tokyo Drift were real drifts. Nearly all of them were performed by Rhys Millen.

I will admit to owning all 4. The first one is hilarious as a drinking game (every time they mess something up!). The second one is actually half decent except the CGI BS. The 3rd one is actually a good movie. Good story, great action shots, and the Monte is still the coolest movie car ever (suck it Burt Reynolds). The 4th one got a little lame story-wise, but having Big Red and the F-Bomb save it. I'm hoping F5 turns it around back to Tokyo Drift where the driving shots are real and the story is good.

You can bet that there are a lot of fake scenes in F5, but there will be infinitely cool cars included too! Pretty much all of the cool cars from each of the previous movies are supposed to make a cameo.

I thought that T. Foust was also a driver for the movie

After conferring with the interwebs (the glorious and all knowing IMDB.com) I defer to your great knowledge. Mr. Foust was a stunt driving double for DK.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I thought Cracked's review of the trailer was amusing:

The film stars Vin Diesel, The Rock, Paul Walker, many, many cars and about a metric ton of just butts. I haven't read a synopsis anywhere (I'm pretty sure IMDb describes it as "Vroom gun? Gun gun gun Tits. It's the most explosion you'll have this butt!")

    http://www.cracked.com/blog/i-cant-tell-if-movies-are-being-serious-anymore/#ixzz1...

The director feels similarly. Whenever there seems to be a dull, quiet or otherwise non-car-filled moment, he likes to believe that filming a bunch of cars exploding will distract the audience long enough to forget that these movies are objectively terrible.

I sort of hate that he's right.

....and still plan to watch this film

i loved it in the FF way, but there were actually times i forgot it was a FF movie. its ridiculous in very entertaining ways that usually dont completely make the carguy in me say, oh cmon! like the previous ones.

I saw the fifth one yesterday and it was good a popcorn eating movie. Watching Vin Diesel and The Rock beat the crap out of each other was great. Some really awesome cars were used. There was a E36 M3 ton more violence than the other movies. Still insanely impossible E36 M3 happening but it was fun.

Best of all though it REALLY made me want to finish my Olds.

The best movie was Tokyo Drift. Why? Because Paul Walker and Vin Diesel aren't in it. (And the last 3 seconds with Vin doesn't count). The movie was more entertaining and Lucas Black's character is one you want to like.

As someone who was a military dependent in Japan in the 1990s and new some guys who were into the car scene on- and off- base, I thought Tokyo Drift was the biggest POS about cars ever put on a screen. What a missed opportunity to show some cool stuff about how it was really for military brats who were into the car scene rather than the B.S. they threw together.

As a popcorn movie at the drive-in, I enjoyed it.

FF: I'm waiting for the video....but just because I'm cheap.

Cars 2: When it comes out we should have a GRM Staff and Dorks meetup to watch it. Just pick a date and theater....If we had enough advanced warning, I might be able to bring my nephew along.
