Just to clear things up, Chuck Norris wears a fanny pack. There will be no further discussion regarding the manliness of fanny packs. The case is closed.

Don't get me wrong, I love you guys...but most of you are not quite at the same level as Chuck Norris. Just sayin'. ;)

Shortly after I graduated high school, Chuck Norris saw me. This coincides neatly with when he decided to stop making "Walker, Texas Ranger" to better train to beat me in the inevitable battle of titans that will soon come. Why do you think he suddenly focused his efforts on those exercise machines?

I am not at the same level of Chuck Norris. And Chuck knows it.

    Well...I did say most. :D

Everything Chuck's done for the last several years makes so much more sense now!

Just a quick update on this now that I have the finalized claims, so you can pass info on to friends/loved ones considering this surgery. I post this because many women choose to do this the surgery even though it is not covered by insurance, and knowing the real costs will help them negotiate fair prices if they choose to pay this out-of-pocket.

SIDENOTE: My surgeon pointed out that teaching hospitals associated with universities may offer this procedure at a greatly reduced price to allow residents to partake in the surgery alongside an experienced surgeon.

    My total out-of-pocket expenses: $888.61

    Total paid by insurance: $6208.45

Total amount actually billed by providers: $54,104.74

Total amount they actually received: $7,097.06 (~13%)

    The breakdown follows.

    Pre-surgery Mammogram

    Patient Responsibility : $25.80

    Amount we paid: $330.61

    Amount billed by provider: $1,295.00

Amount saved by using a network provider : $938.59

    Hospital bill

    Patient Responsibility: $460.11

    Amount we paid: $4140.97

    Amount billed by provider: $45,433.90

Amount saved by using a network provider: $40,832.82

    Surgeon Bill

    Patient Responsibility : $188.05

    Amount we paid: $1,692.48

    Amount billed by provider: $6,830.00

Amount saved by using a network provider : $4,949.47

    Post-surgery pathology

    Patient Responsibility : $214.65

    Amount we paid: $44.39

    Amount billed by provider: $545.84

Amount saved by using a network provider : $286.80

102,059.95 total charges, and it cost you 888.61 OOP? Good choices, good insurances.

Oh, by the way, I understand that FBI agents are issued fanny packs, but they call them Firearm And Gear bags. I did not make that up.
